Anyone having problems with halifax on-line banking? I've been locked out and been informed that it's because I've accessed from different public IP addresses (no **** I'm an IT engineer)

Been told it'll also locked out any non UK IP addresses... So what happens when I login from a large coporate and that routes through a different network...

I've told them I'm off as a customer as I can't be doing with this crap. So much for testing...

Wtf?? Non-UK? How the hell am I supposed to manage my money when I'm in Japan later this year?

I hope this isn't true, or I'm gonna have to look into closing the account. Halifail have really been ass these last few years. :/

My point exactly.. Why can't they just give me an RSA token rather than crap that won't work

The customer service person just said "non UK traffic is insecure"

mmmm

So who to go to... I've heard first direct are good.

I hope this is not true. I access from work where we route our internet traffic through Germany. This is no good.

**Edit**

Just taken this from the small important message link they have added to their sign in page

I'm getting a phone call from a more technical bod tomorrow. They did ask what they needed to do to keep me. Err turn this crap off from my account....

cool, please update with the result. If it is no good then I will be complaining as well

Oh...

Well if they do turn out to be clamping down with stupid security, im kinda stuck with my Student overdraft...

Dont think any other bank would like me to open an account and fill it with £2750 of debt interest free...

Just tried mine and got in OK. Then again I'm currently at home, where I access my banking from 99% of the time, and I get a static IP from my ISP. I'll try again from my workplace tomorrow and see if it throws anything up.

I was in Turkey last week and accessed my online service I quickly was suspended and my internet and telephone banking was stopped and suspended, I got home and a nice letter from the fraud department saying there was an attempted login outside UK, well yes it was me trying to access my accounts as I couldn’t see any balances at the ATM machines, total joke :( :( Took my 30mins reactivating my accounts with the fraud team!

They're recently changed their online banking anyway, makes life very difficult to pay credit card bill etc. and if it means I can't login when I'm at my brothers any more not going to be impressed :(

I'm thankful that they are this secure to be honest, if you cant use the internet banking for whatever reason just use phone banking. I'd much rather security at any cost over convenience when it comes to my money.

Anyone recommend a new bank? or know of a bank using RSA tokens etc?

Due to the nature of the job I can't spend time on the phone, but can easily just login and check etc.

I've been with First Direct for absolutely ages and they've always been brilliant, their customer service is impeccible, can't fault them at all.

If you're thinking of changing then I could definitely recommend them.

If you work abroad or spend time abroad nationwide are great no fee's for using or withdrawing money. No going to change bureau just draw it oout of ATM , no doubt get a better rate as well :)

Think Halifax is pretty good myself. All banks are the same - its all about who you speak to. Idiots work everywhere so its always a gamble. As for online ... no problems from me. Hope you get it sorted :)

Why should you even have to mess with proxies to get at your money?

I don't mind security, but if a bank started telling me when or where I could access my account, I'd tell them where to insert it.
