I don't know if this is even going to be possible on the budget but here we go...

Before we start, I don't need mice, keyboards, speakers, monitors etc, JUST stuff to complete the base units....

I want to make what I've got into TWO full rigs one for me and one for my dad and only spend £200 if possible this is what I have got so far.....

An AMD 64 4000+ San Diego (s939) with HSF
A Dual Core Intel 2160 with HSF

An ATI X1950XTX 512mb PCI-E (this has an arctic accelero on it and will need LOTS of room at the back end so I need a mobo what will accommodate it and have a x16 pic-e slot.)
An Nvidia 7900 GS 512mb PCI-E

A Gigabyte GA-K8-NF9 S939 Mobo

4x512mb DDR pc3200 Geil Value Ram (I want to keep this all in the s939 rig and get DDR2 for the 775 rig.)

2x Floppy Drives with Cables

1x WD 500gb Sata
1x WD 200gb Sata

1xDVD ROM with Rounded IDE Cable
1xDVD RW with Rounded IDE Cable

1xVantec Spread Spectrum Fan

4x80mm Blue Led's Case Fans

1x Generic ATX Windowed Case

1x Hyper Type-R 480w PSU

1x Blue Cold Cathode

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

G

You take the intel CPU, the radeon card, the 500gb HDD and the DVDRW.

Then add this:

Use everything else left to make your dads PC, you've got a case, PSU, motherboard, RAM, graphics card, HDD, DVD, and athlon CPU. It will be perfect for his needs, and will play CS well as well because it still has a GeForce 7900.

Both PC's will actually be pretty good as well, especially yours.

you may want to change the case and PSU combo

make sure the MB will allow you to use the GPU you want

Thanks very much for the replies! :)

I notice that the PSU's that you have chosen are all lower wattage that the one I have, does that mean I should keep mine and give my dad the new one?

Cheers :)

Also do you know which one of these mobo's is most futureproof?

Thanks :)

trust me m8, lower wattage means squat. the enermax oozes quailty.

dont give it away to your dad.

as for future proof, nehalem is coming this year, no LGA775 is future proofed anymore

Fair enough :)

Is this not a good time to upgrade?

I'm still struggling to decide on a mobo, I want one that will last the longest :)

So far I've found these on this weekend only at a competitor:

Silverstone PS-01B-W "Precision" Tower Case Black with Window Side Panel w/o PSU + 700W FSP700-8 £59.00 £69.33

Asus P5K SE, iP35, S 775, PCI-E (x16), DDR2 1066/667/800MHz, SATA II, ATX £46.50 £54.64

2GB (2x1GB) Corsair TwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800), 240 Pins, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 5-5-5-12 £24.50 £28.79

Asus DRW-2014L1 20x DVD±R, 8x DVD±DL, DVD+RW x8/-RW x6, x14 DVD-RAM, PATA, Lightscribe, Black OEM + £14.75 £17.33
Net Total £144.75

Carriage £0.00

V.A.T. £25.33

TOTAL £170.08

My budget is £200 so this is perfect, I'm just wondering if it is worth using the left over money to get ram with slightly better timings, or a better mobo or both?

or even this ram:

2GB (2x1GB) Corsair TwinX DDR2 XMS2 Dominator, PC2-8500 (1066), 240 Pin, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 5 £42.99 £50.51

Any Suggestions?

I really need to decide in the next few hours to catch the offers so any help is really appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

G
