DMC4 PC Demo now available !

Stuck the benchmark app on my laptop for a laugh:

Core2Duo [email protected]
8600MGT
2GB
Vista 32Bit

Everything on high settings and DX9. Results?

Scene 1: 34FPS
Scene 2: 25FPS
Scene 3: 38FPS
Scene 4: 23FPS

DX10 performance was utterly terrible:

Scene 1: 24FPS
Scene 2: 19FPS
Scene 3: 27FPS
Scene 4: 15FPS

Thought I'd see how my five year old single core CPU fared... and I was quite amazed

Runs and plays awesome with joypad.

All maxed out DX10, 1280x1024, 2x AA: 120 fps :D.
When i played this at ''gameplay 2007''on ps3 I didn't like this that much (prolly due to the fact it was on some lame tv with no chairs instead of my lazy pc :D, now I love it.

EDIT:
It was momentarily, I can't seem to take pics with print screen as they end up with a black screen in paint, but the first test is 90 fps avg, 2nd test around 70, 3rd was around 90 most of the time peaking 170 near the end and the fourth seemed to be around 57 peaking more sometimes but still nice enough to play it.

Anyways, the end of the story is that it runs awesome, even in dx10 ( ps. that's with an E6420 @ stock, 8800GTS 512 at stock, 2gb of geil ram running under normal speed( and 2 gb is out for troubleshooting), Vista Ultimate X64 Sp1).

Ahh just played on, and I got to the firey guy in the demo bottom lvl ( after u beat the 2 icey guys) and I could only manage to knock 2 health bars off him before dieing :(.

Anyways this is a definate buy and a great addon for pc's, can't wait for full version.

Well, it has nice graphicsand the xbox controller is supported, thats about all the nice things I can say about it. It is such an infuriating game. The annoying camera angles which keep changing makes you walk down the same bit and makes you lose all sense of direction. It feels very "consoley". I think I will avoid this one.

For all thosee peeps posting about x box controllers, this is one game that uses it to its best abilities. Wireless rumble works great too.

Capcom really know how to put out some good PC ports when they let their Japanese devs on the case instead of outsourcing to some 3rd party. Good decision by them to delay this by 3 months to optimise if only all the other publishers would do the same thing....

I have a good feeling that Resident Evil5 will get a PC port as recently they have done DMC4, Lost Planet: Colonies & Bionic Commando is also due in the autumn so RE5 will probably follow the console version 6 months later.

Anyone know how to fix this?

I tried the Run As... trick, didn't work.

I have a fix!

Was also getting this error on XP x64 with the demo but strangely the standalone benchmark installed with no probs.

Check my event logs and was seeing this when trying to install the demo...

Code:
Event Type:	Error
Event Source:	MsiInstaller
Event Category:	None
Event ID:	1008

Description:
The installation of C:\DOCUME~1\CHAOSO~1\LOCALS~1\Temp

TRIAL.msi is not permitted due to an error in software restriction policy
processing. The object cannot be trusted.

So ran the installer again then before clicking ok on the error copied the files out of that temp dir to another location, as the installer deletes the extracted files as soon as you click ok on the error.
Then I just ran the 'DEVIL MAY CRY 4 TRIAL.msi'.

Installs fine! Just ran it and it got as far as the menu screen, so looks good. Just popped back to post, now I'm off to play with the settings and have a quick go.

My only worry really is what is it doing to flag itself as untrusted by my setup?
