Sitting down this evening, i was reminicing (sp) of times when i was young! And the thought of Horlicks popped into my head. My mother used to give it me before i went to bed.

So out i went to the local spar and picked up a pack, got home, emptied a sachet into a cup and added water..... ahhhh that warm malted smell. I let it cool a few mins and took a sip, then all the memories came flooding back!

Just wanted to share my new found love of horlicks with you all! Any other Horlicks lovers/haters? Discuss!

I got given some I was quite excited made it and to be honest it smelt alright, However when I actually tasted it I nearly threw up ugh it tastes like ash and sawdust mixed

Yup; both Horlicks and Ovaltine when I was a kid ..... maybe now that I'm old I need to buy some...

Makes me want a tin of Milo from New Zealand :(

I brought a load back after spending time with family out there, but haven't seen the stuff for about 8 years :(

I'm generally on the hot chocolate/malted drinks making duty in the evening, is it my imagination or do they make you use more spoonfuls per cup now than 10 years ago? Seems like I have to empty half the bloomin tub each time.

I can eat Horlicks off a spoon without adding it to anything. I've always loved the stuff. Always made it with milk though in a pan not with hot water.

I remember having to use only a spoon or two to make a cup. But that was when Horlicks had to be made with hot milk and not water. Now that you get the instant stuff loads of it will be powdered milk substitute.

You used to be able to get Ovaltine chocolate bars too.... yum!

May be just me, but I've always found, while horlicks is a heavenly drink, horlicks with a splash of brandy, is even more so.. mmmm alcohol vapours...
