Any problems with having a car cover on on a public road?

I went on recommendations and the fact I know 2 people IRL that have them so can see the results first hand. Hence why I went for one.

And plus I ordered it 2 days ago...28 day build/delivery time though! :o :(

So its custom made? Are you telling me that it will only fit an MG ZS/Rover 45? Please say no......

Lets step down off the high horse for one second and quantify what i would put under a £360 car cover, Ferrari 355 / 360 (If parked on the road).

The only person who could justify putting a £2000 rover under a £360 car cover wears a white jacket and lives in a padded cell.

humm, abit unfair... but I would put the cover under the car to keep cover dry

I'm surprised that they don't come with a window for the tax disk to be seen through...
Just what I was thinking.

Seriously though spending two months rent on covering a car just sounds daft to me - especially when a cover a quarter of the price would keep the tree crap off it just as well. More likely than not someone will steal the cover or kick the car through the cover due to the increased attention it will attract.

cant wait for the thread where this amazing cover has been nabbed :D

plus i bet you could'nt be arsed to put it on every blimmin time you park up outside...

plus it brings more attention to it and therefore more likely to get vandalised*

plus your neighbours will have great entertainment at the 'kid who tucks in his rover'

:p

*may depend on which area of the country you live in

I'm not on any high horse. I want to look after the car when I get it, since when is that deemed mad? If I didn't have to park it where I do then I wouldn't buy one. If I parked it at my parents where it's open air and a big driveway then I wouldn't have even considered it! :)

It's Phate. Just have a look at some of the threads he's started over the last 6 months :p

I would call them "interesting" :p

Aye, made to fit. It will be sold with the car (whenever that is)

Oh I can :D

Not really, nobody goes down the road.

What neighbours? ;)

I would get a couple of strips of reflective stuff to whack on the front and back, an unlit road plus a dark cover (just guessing) = big crash potential. The tax disc thing could be a problem, but I would take the chance, I doubt it would be a problem.

One thing i dont understand. By the look of that road surely you must have a drive to park on? i mean it doesnt look like the sort of road that will be lined with terrace houses that are directly on the road.

You going to buy another one for your next car then? Are you related to West by any chance?

Depends if I need one or not mate.

It's a lit road. Look in that pic, you can see the street lights.

You live in an area without any neighbours? Excellent then you can park where you like and can park somewhere else.

Wrong. Can only park in the layby I was standing in when I took that picture!

Na, no drive mate.

I would explain but I'm going on lunch for a drink :p

To conclude this thread, why are you worried Phate? You have no neighbours and no one ever goes up your street, so the chances of you getting done for not displaying your tax disc is slim to none.

I would recommend some food also.
Sarny in hand :p

Not worried, more wondering.

You are trying to sell this car (presumably within the next few months), yet you are going to wait a month for the (custom?) cover?

In that time it will require 14 washes, by your reckoning. Why not just wait until you make the advert and then wash it for the photos and viewings?

Who said I'm selling it? I haven't picked it up yet! :p

Ok, the deal with my parking.

My flat is attached to a school, I'm not going into details of the school, the name of it or the type of it etc. But my flatmate is a teacher there and she got the flat with the job.

The only designated parking spaces are for either staff or the school car park which I'm not allowed to use as I or my kids (if I had any) don't go there, nor do I work there.

So my only parking is the layby I use :)
