Driving Theory

Open the thread in the right forum to start :p

Next.. just make sure you RTQ, and on the Hazard Perception click when you see a possible hazard and AGAIN when it develops.

Get a good nights sleep and don't worry.

Hazard perception is really the only tricky part to it. Some videos can be very obvious with the hazards and other videos the hazards are very obscure. First time round hazard perception beat me out by 4 points, second time around i flew through the test, 48/50 (questions) and 60/75 (hazard perception).

Just keep your eyes glued to the screen for the hazard perception, as said click when you think you see a hazard and again when it develops.

i did mine the week before last - just don't stress over it too much :)
if you've revised the questions and practiced the hazard perception there is nothing more you can do! chill out, turn up early, wear long sleeves (no coats / bags etc in the room)
good luck!!

If you're anything like me on the hazard perception test you won't have a clue what you're doing, so just keep clicking every time you see ANYTHING (including bends in the road, puddles etc.). The only problem is on one of the videos you're in a town with about a billion pedastrians, obviously if you click a billion times you're gonna fail so just click at regular time intervals and you'll be fine.

For the theory test just go for the least silly option and it's usually the right one.

Disclaimer: This is probably terible advice but it's what I did and I passed so there you go.

The theory is the easy bit, its multiple choice ! If you really don't know then narrow it down to 2 answers and use logic and think SAFETY and guess. With the hazard Perception test,

see children - click,
see lorry coming the other way - click,
see junction - click,
see lots of park cars - click,
see traffic lights - click,
see the sun - click,
see a corner coming - click
see animals - click

Basically anything that can causes you to change your speed or direction - click.

Any doubt, click.

I just had a look through the little book things full of test questions, felt quite confident and passed about a month ago.

You'll pass, it'll be fine :)

Oh click it about a second after you first click, sometimes you click too early even for the program to even start the count for that particular hazard. So you'd think you got a 5 but because you were just that bit too early you end up with a 0, click it again a second later would prob mean you get a 3 at least.

Quick H/P tips:

When your on a motorway, watch for trucks or cars merging into your lane and also merging onto the motorway as these will cause you to sloow down, I don't know many other hazards you'd get on a motorway, unless someone slowed down for some reason, but the first two are usually what you get.

You should get one of these - when in a narrow road (enough for 1-1.5 cars but not two) LOOK AHEAD, I can almost guarantee you a car will come oppersite and you will need to stop, this is more of a reaction (click twice with small space, as it's possibe to click before the 5,4,3,2,1 window opens)

Watch for kids, there is one were they are running and they run to the crossing, but don't cross, they are running as if they are going to run out onto the road <-- t'was the harzard.

Zebras count as harzards too, if someone steps out, it's a click IIRC. Red lights don't.

Cyclists and horse riders too. Oh yeah and look for people reversing or turning around in the road.

Basically if someone causes you to stop or slow down OR change direction it's possible that it's a hazard. Do a mock test of the H/P as without one you may probably fail.

You should click if you think it could be a danger, you wont lose points, although if you click too many times (I think it's something like 7-10 that's considered the cheat zone) you fail that video,

The first part is easy, it's stupid questions like what to do if someone crashes or road signs, most are common sense and since you use these forums I suppose you have some. :) - providing you've revised this (THC is good, actually very important for this so are mocks) you should pass.

The H/P is some hit and miss, anyway I hope you pwn it. Seems forever when I did mine, I barely rememeber.

If only you had posted earlier,i have a website wich gives access to all the exact questions and hazard perception clips,i would have give you my details to practice with :)

As others have said, the hazard perception part is the trickiest part. When I did mine last year I got 35/35 for the questions but only 48/75 (I think) for the HP. Luckily I was 4 points over the pass but it was a bit close for my liking. Remember that one clip has more than one hazard in it, so don't stop clicking just because you think you've had the hazard.

See, it's assumptions like that which lull us into thinking we belong in a relatively intelligent community, then *BANG* - "spec me a spoon plz?".

I'd like to know about this too please, if that's OK. Email in trust. ;)
