There is one born every minute

Yeah, why are they making one? In what sense can they be used for audio?

they arent, they are making iLink cables for their denon systems......

....they just happen to be cat 5 cables lol. the only real difference, apparently, is that the denon iLink cables are STP (shielded twisted pair) while your normal cat 5 patch cable is UTP (unshielded)

I'm sure it's less than £350 for 1.5m of STP cable though? Unless you get Denon :p

Isn't there some hi fi speaker cables for around £10,000 and James Randi has put a lot of money up for people to prove they're any better than cheap cables?

I went to a pensioners house today to install her new DVD player to the TV.
The nice men in Comet sold her a SCART cable for £60.
I put my £2 lead in to show her there was no difference.

Update

James Randi has offered 1 million dollars for anybody who can prove that expensive cables are better than cheap cables.

Things like that make me mad. Its unfair to take advantage of the elderly like that.

Did she get a refund?

Bet you made her day - £60 for nothing :p

Beyond daft. I wonder what sales are like for these items!

I can imagine a few poor sods being talked into one of these with that new HDTV and that it may some how benefit them :(

I know that these expensive cables do nothing special in every day use, but has anyone tested them in extreme situations? They are made of different materails, like some are made of silver/gold, so perhaps they function better then cheap cables in extreme cold/heat, or when there are insane levels of noise on the frequency that the data travels along the cables at.
