Get Firefox 3 RC3 now!

I read that 3.0.1 will be out 4-6 weeks after release. Should just be a minor bugfix release before 3.1 in Nov/Dec.

Are we sure they haven't changed anything else at all? because ff3 rc3 still hasn't crashed with me and no changed from ff3 rc2 which crashed at least twice a day.

Incidentally, I have a Firefox question which someone here might be able to answer.

Before Fx2, I could press the / button and get the fully-fledged Find bar. In Fx2 and Fx3 it just gives a 'quick find' bar, and I have to press Ctrl+F to get the Find bar with previous / next buttons, etc.

Why did Mozilla bother changing this? What's the benefit of the 'quick find' bar over the proper find bar? It's always annoyed me a bit because I'm used to pressing / and can't get out of the habit!

There's got to be a justification in some bug somewhere, but in the meantime you can revert it with a little userChrome tweaking:

Code:
    #FindToolbar > * {display: -moz-box !important; }

FF3 will be out on 17th June

Mozilla has set June 17 as the official release day for Firefox 3. The introduction of the new browser marks the beginning of a race for the title of the fastest browser on the market. With more than one million people already pledged to download Firefox 3 on the first day of its release, Firefox 3 could set a Guinness World Record as the most downloaded software with the first 24 hours of launch. Mozilla has set next Tuesday, June 17, as the official release day for the upgraded Firefox 3 browser, following months of beta testing and release candidates that have been publicly available to users over the past few weeks. Firefox 3 will be shipped for both Mac and Windows on the same day.

I have a FF3 question too :)

My usernames / passwords aren't remembered for https URLs. They used to be for FF2.

Things like paypal logins etc. Yeah yeah I know, there are risks associated with it etc, but its not remembering even just usernames if the URL is https

If that's the case for you then your doing something wrong.

have you created a new profile ?

i haven't created anything i just installed normally. i'm using it on old machine but looks like i'l be sticking with version 2. it loads my pages faster and videos play much smoother

Is it recommended to use a new profile if upgrading from FF2 to FF3? I tried out the RC for a while using my old profile but it acted odd in that it wouldn't remember previous sessions and such.

Also does anyone know if there is a version of the menu edit extension that allows you to edit the bookmark menu in FF3?

It's generally a good idea, because you can't go back to Fx2 from Fx3 without losing some of the data that's now held in SQLite.
There seem to be a lot of reports of cookies.sqlite getting mangled somehow with imported cookies.

ive gone back to rc1, kept having cache issues with rc2 and 3, like it was redrawing the page all the time.

tried a new profile etc and cache settings to.
