The Mass Effect (PC) Discussion Thread

Great. Manualls sometimes contain errata though. I'm fairly sure the in-game help mentioned it as my definition.

Pretty sure the printed manual is wrong. down arrow is Rally in the game.

i just send squad to in front of me but making sure to behind cover (up arrow)

Damm cant find the last keeper to scan, searched everywhere, also does ne1 know how to track the signal? i would like to finish the citadel quests before jumping on the ship.

Whilst trying to find my last keeper, i ran in schell at the flux, so i decided to do his misson, problem is after i win the 5 games for the device and decide to stop playing the game crashes with a GPF ( general protection fault).

Did they say where about in the floor, in which part of the citadel?

Having played through the 360 version I can tell you all that it's definitely one of the all-time RPG greats! :)

That's having played a fair number over the years...

For any RPG veteran reading this, I would recommend cranking up the difficulty, if that option even exists, to maximise the playability. Sure, you can go back and replay it tougher but if like me you only like to play through a game once, you will prefer having a challenge the first time around.

Found the 1 i was missing, i kept using the quick travel instead of the lift so missed a whole section of the citadel, also got past were i was getting the gpf, i disabled v sync and switched from the high stakes machines after 3 wins to the low stakes machines for the other 2 and it didnt crash.

MY copy arrived yesterday, in under 48 hours! My moaning at the shop seems to have worked!

Couldn't play it yesterday as I had the troublesome task of having to setup a belkin wireless range extender. It wasnt pretty and my pc nearly got thrown in the bin lol and replaced with an imac.

Should be able to install it tonight and have a little go.

I went to Sainsburys this morning to get some milk for the office and I was so tempted to buy it. I loved it on the 360 when it first came out and sold it as soon I finished it. (well I actually did not finish the last battle cause it was too difficult due to my poor builds) So I was wondering if it is worth playing again on the PC.

It is not often that truly great games come along and this and The Witcher were my games of the year.

I'm finding it awesome atm but for some reason I just don't feel it's taking advantage of my hard ware.
Graphics are nothing special with everyone up full although I do have the 3870x2 so don't know if any of the graphical issues affect me.
Playability though is awesome apart from it being dialogue heavy at the start.

Ah good to hear u found last keeper...i struggled too but there is a 7 min clip on youtube that shows all their locations

Whilst I haven't suffered any submerged Keepers so far, I did end up missing a scan on one of them, so I checked the trusty gamebanshee.com website. Would highly recommend it for any RPG game, used it since the very first KotoR :D

Anybody know how to fix the over pixelation of lights?

It's not a major issue, it's just ever so slightly annoying when the sun on Eden Prime looks like it's from a PS1 game.

I hear Microsoft won't be handling the achievements on the PC so I may not buy it. I love it on my 360 but to buy the game twice I think would be pointless if I can't improve my gamer score.

I'm use to using my 360 pad with this game does the PC version support the 360 pad?

Went to see the purple shirted people, but they had no Age of Conan, so thought i'd get this instead... Jeeze am i glad... This game is great, the gfx look stunning (on ultra high), and the music is very atmospheric, really sets the mood in places... :)

I love the fact that all the dialog is spoken, as many dialog heavy rpg's means you spend hours reading useless text, whereas is Mass Effect (ME), the speech means you don't have to spend hours reading trash, and in ME, the voice acting is VERY well done... :D

As stated before, i'm loving this game, i'm at level 28, and only just completed 1 of the the 3 main quests you get given after being made a Specter (right at the start of the Citadel level)... All other levels gained, doing side quests (assignments), so i guess theres loads more to do...

When people say they've 'completed' the game, is that the same 'completed' as Oblivion where in fact there's another 75% of stuff out there still to do?

just playing this for the last 2 days now and enjoying it

only a couple of problems with it tho

sometimes when you pick something you want to say in the dialogue tree and it comes out in the totaly wrong way so the consequences from that messes up how your playing

the game is pretty buggy ive had crashes when ive finished a long mission, enemys geting stuck, my party also geting stuck in doors, lift problems and the shadow problems wouldnt of hurt to have had a decent inventory screen could do with a patch

all that tho im still loving it, im up to 4th planet of the main story and ive done a few of the side missions this is the first rpg ive gotten into which i will complete
