I've just had a life changing experience.

I just noticed I get sharp pains in my chest quite abit, sometimes when I'm on my bike in my left like my shoulder area, bit under I get a weird strain feeling or something, I also got this werd pain when I breath in sometimes

This is why websites that list symptoms (and medical advice threads) are bad things.

Everyone reads the list and thinks "I have that! :(".

Totally agree, but i didn't see any threads or anything when i started getting these feelings. Ive had them for a while now and one night i couldn't get to sleep at all as i had a really bad pain in my chest so rung NHS direct and they sorted out a visit to a local doctor then he admitted me to hospital as my heart rate was 130 or something. he also said he could hear a heart murmur:(.

Then when i went to Blackburn general hospital they did a few tests then sent me packing saying there was no medical reason they could see. I don't feel right at all :(. Going to go to the docs but i guess he will send m back to hospital to do it all again.

Strange thing is i have a phsyical job and it isnt restricting me from doing it. I just fear going to bed as thats when i gets worse.

EDIT: yea sorry not asking for advice at all just thought id share my similar problem.

Start slow... if you jump into too much exercise you could cause more problems. Scale up your regime over 6 months or so. Check out the sports forum here.

I get stabbing pains around my heart all the time, it hurts the most when I breath during the pains, they only last a minute or two though.

Never thought much more of it :o

If it's not on the left of your body then it's fine, sounds to me like some sort of nerve/muscle spamsing. I get it too sometimes, only really hurts when I breathe at a certain level.

I also randomly get what feels like a huge electric shock all the way through my body for a split second. It's not long enough to work out whether it's painful or not.

I had this sort of thing happen to me before, and was checked out for all sorts of things as my dad's family have had a few losses to cardio-myopathy(sp?) a heart illness that is hereditary. They all came back fine and eventually it transpired to be a cracked/broken rib that still 'cracks' like when you crack your knuckles, but near my sternum.

Best wishes to you though mate and hope you can sort the blood pressure out.

The pain is sort of slightly above the left nipple. It only happens once or twice every month or so.

As for the jolt through your body, I think most people get this, not sure what it is, but I get it most when I'm trying to sleep. Although I have had it randomly when I have been watching tele etc.

Give it another month, you'll be back to your old habits again. I have seen many people, including both my parents and two mates, get heart attacks and stress/pain attacks and proclaim 'changing my life and ways now!' only to go back to the usual routine after some weeks.

You have to be deadly serious if you want to change your ways. After a couple of night's sleep you'll be thinking meh it wasn't that much of a big deal anyway I'm fine now. People forget their own mortality too easily. Have fun.

Cynical? You bet.

Hope you get over it bud, Start jogging mate, i recently started and even though its killing me with pain im starting to see the benefits. Went paintballing today and felt really energetic.

Swimming is a tough one as well.

I think I'm going to start riding my bike every night. Would just riding say a mile a night do any good?, a fair bit is up hill.

I know what you mean Knives my dad had a scare a while ago and vowed that he would cut down on smoking. That lasted all of a week now hes smoking more than he did before . If it happens again then I'm sorry to say it but its his own fault.

The thing thats annoying about me is that i don't eat too unhealthily, no more so than anyone else in my family anyway and I'm definitely not overweight at 12 1/2 stone 6ft1". I don't smoke and never have, i only drink every now and again. I do a physical job where I'm on my feet all day rushing about and i get this .
