I could buy a new telly next week...

It's funny. Most of the time it's the fanboys themselves that use the term. It seems to be their first line of defence against anyone that dares criticise their preferred brand / make etc.

Not really. I didnt start attacking Panasonic did i? Usually fanbois attack without provocation. you both had a cheap jibe towards samsung hence the fanboi comment.

I own Samsung Plasma which beat the equivalent Panasonic in the same range (PX70 i believe) in reviews at the time. Hence why i can heartily recommend them...

i dont just look at forums at what other people are saying and go by that without ever owning a samsung plasma myself...

I however have not ownded a Sammy, so couldn't directly compare with my PX80

So i assume the same logic applies when criticising the very same? Or does it not work like that :D

I honestly don't know why I bother sometimes!? Go on then, buy a Samsung....then see what happens when it goes wrong.

So you can heartily recommed a TV because it got at least one review that was better than one of it's competitors. How about the opinions on AVforums of Sammy owners who have had more issues than any other manufacturer?

What model number do you own?

oh wow shall we play that game then?

If you look hard, you can find better picture quality than that offered by Samsung's PS42Q97HDX. You'll undoubtedly have to pay more for it. Considered more fairly in the context of other 37-42-inch screens selling for around £800, the 42Q97HDX isn't just good, it's practically revolutionary.

If we're talking about the best without regard to budget then its Pioneer. But for its budget yes the Sammy beat the Panasonic in its equivalent range. (edges it)

Cant access a few more sites from work. It was a common thread on avforums at the time (ohh yes i'm there :p). Most had the 2 tvs equal or samsung slightly better and considering it was much cheaper...the obvious choice.

shocker the panasonic fanboies are out! :p

Samsung are generally a bit cheaper than panasonic but are equally good picture quality wise... you just have to know what you're looking for

of course if you dont know what you're doing then its easy to get hit with a bad samsung set then blame em all as being shoddy. :)

Hahhaa. How can I be a panasonic fanboi, I own a kuro :D

I don't read reviews then advise people to buy tvs on them and peoples reviews saying 'OMG I got a samsung, reviews said amazing and I love it, better than anything else k thx bye'.

I will only heartily recommend sets I have seen for myself with SD and HD footage, and have been configured by myself rather than going by the crap settings in a shop. I even played with a mates samsung plasmas the other week, and no matter what I did, I could never get the picture to look great out of his sky HD box. I am spoiled having a kuro, but the next closest tv I have seen is actually the Pansonic PX80 which is astonishingly cheap at about 1/2 the price of the Kuro.

Within about 20 mins of watching and playing with samsung LCDs and a plasma when I did my research before buying, i had discounted them because they looked soo poor compared to the panasonic PZ70. I then saw the kuro, and my journey ended.

Some people might like the samsungs, for their glaringly bright colours, bad SD handling, and sexy piano gloss bezel. But the truth of the matter is that a panasonic PX80 ***** all over any samsung I have seen, it is made better, has less problems, and most importantly has a stunning picture quality compared to them.

snip reviews

So you are recommending a tv on other peoples opinions. And going by a site rated by owners of said tv. Of course the owners will give it a glowing review.

Dean: I'm with you on this, sometimes I don't know why I bother

I'm on there as well you know..... oh shall we talk about the NUMEROUS issues that affected the PX70 ?

Only problem i had with the samsung was with the green phosphor tinge effect evident in some films. Which thankfully seems to have cleared up. As anyone should know you dont get the best PQ from a plasma from the off..it has to bed in first...

Any Hdtvorg reviews can be discounted out of hand. They have widely copied and stolen work from http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/

You should know better (or maybe not ) to slander without evidence....

ohh and i know how you like quotes....

from HDTVtest...
How it compares to Panasonic's entry level 50-inch plasma TV (which the Samsung undercuts by £100 or more) is a worthwhile topic for another day, but today the glory fully belongs to the Samsung PS50Q97HDX

As I said before, I don't have a problem with the PQ, I don't think anyone does, it's the build quality that lets Sammys down.

PS, find another reviewsite - HDTVorg is notorious for plagarising other sites and on several occasions has simply changed the model numbers in their reviews when new versions are released (see the panasonic PX70 and PX80 reviews of there and you'll begin to see some troubling similarities).

I don't doubt for a second that everything in the reviews you posted could be correct and the Sammy could actually be better, but I've just read too many stories on AVForums that tell me I'm in much greater danger of buying a lemon if I pick a sammy over a Panny.

Well im not arguing about other Samsungs as i said previously that unless you are careful then yep you could end up with a dodgy samsung but to declare them all rubbish/awful out of hand is just a stupid and ignorant comment.....

RE: reviews Its not just the one site. Like i said before cant access some sites from work.
