I wonder how long before the same feat is accomplished in the USA.

I would also guess it is taking Sony a lot longer than they originally predicted. I'd have thought they would have been thinking they were gonna have Wii type sales figures.

I had a dreamcast, most people I knew either had or still wanted a PS1, never mind a PS2. It was dead in the water from the start.

The thing to note about the attatch rates for each console is that the only one which you cant get pirate games for is the ps3.

That wasn't really competition though

not on the same level of the PS2 for the Xbox.

The Dreamcast was essentially a better system than the PS2 but it never took off so it can't truly be considered competiton.

The sony brand of consoles has always been incredibly popular for some reason in Europe despite them always dumping on us at every opportunity

Strange thing to say when in mainland Asia and Australia the PS3 is massively more popular than the 360 iirc.

How not? Infact it was easier for the xbox as it was argueably better than the PS2, and the dreamcast was also arguably better than the PS2.

Which is another reason why they chose the correct format, it's made sure if people want to play the games they have to buy them. Then once the system (game and film) has been successfully hacked the console sales go up through the roof again.

Once you can buy 1 for 1 rips off the market 3 for a tenner the ps3 will start to sell in the numbers the ps2 has.

The PS2 was an established console with a large following against a new manufacturer with a bad reputation.

The Dreamcast didn't have a massive following and the PS2 already had an existing fan base.

'better' console has nothing to with sales at all.

I could find several posts in the MGS4 thread saying its the best game this gen/ever, also several reviewers have also agreed, maybe you spend to much time on Ninty/360 forums?

Anyway away from off topic conversation, no one can deny the Wii is a monster hardware sellar, but it seems the 360/PS3 are banded into the HD console market, seperate from the wii, seems a bit stupid to me but thats how the manufactures like to word it now. As for attach rates the Wii is the stand out leader in Eu/Others but that does include Wii sports sales as well as Wii play with approx 4.23, next is the PS3 with approx 3.28 and the 360 with 2.94, PS3 and 360 are pretty close TBH, and like i said earler PS3 software sales are also higher than the 360's. It dont matter much in the end we're not share holders in said companies so as long as we get great games out on all the systems then its good for gamers.
