Purple shirt store interview

Really does **** me off that most you guys here think that you are above the staff that work at purple shirt land.

I work there and I always give cracking customer service, always make sure I save the customers money as best I can, and make sure the customer gets EXACTLY what they need - wether its an ink cartridge, or the right spec PC to suit their needs.

Im also top salesmen aswell 9 times out of 10 on a weekly basis :D

Just thought id say that to prove to you lot most people at purple shirt land are not numpties...

But in answer to your question azza - If you have any experience involving customer service - let them know about it, they love it. As soon as I told them about my years experience at the marriott hotel - they lapped it up big time!

Also, a customer advisors are basically salesmen - if you have any previous sales experience, also let them know of this.

And the most important thing...be yourself!!! :D (unless your a ****:p)

Good luck mate :)

There are many decent sales staff there mate don't take it so personally :)

I have also encounterd the opposite, last year on a lunch break I nipped out to buy a SATA cable, it's a big shop, I was in a rush so I asked where they were, a what cable sir? the purple shirt asked...........

I've also had people in there falling over backwards to help, the problem is that it's a little like a supermarket, not everyone will know about their selection of fruit and veg but some will take the time to find out.

Just don't do what I did. I had an interview at the local branch (Festival Park, Etruria) and because I was "suited and booted" people must've thought I was a member of staff or something. Anyway, real members of staff didn't take too kindly to it when I was overheard telling customers to pop up the road to OcUK instead.

They asked me to leave the store! :D :p

Its another true story from Azagoth

From their adverts the purple shirt store looks like a good place to work. Lots of hot young students coming in with their MILF mothers wanting to buy laptops. If I was young again I'd try and get a job there probably.

I used to work in Currys but on the Customer Services desk, god i used to love hearing some of the utter rubbish the sales people will come out with just to sell something.

"Yes this laptop is dual core, it has two Pentium 4 processors. Because its got 2, its a Pentium 8 effectively"

Glad I got out of there whilst I could, DSGi is a horrible company to work for.

when i went a few years ago they made us all do aptitude tests and where 100% more bothered that we could work out percenages than that we knew what a computer was

They dont work on commision anymore. Well in Currys they dont, I think that would be the same at PC World. You make your money on selling their extended warranties, and credit agreements.

I used to do the opposite.

Early days of Curry's -
Customer - I'm after your top video and one that won't be out of date in 6 months.
Currys - Thsi one here Sir, its Betamax and it will be around for a long time.
Me - Excuse me, is that why you've only got that one betamax and at least 20 VHS on the shelves and thats despite the fact that betamax is on its arse?

I still have a Betamax video. It is great and I can watch the original Live Aid too whenever I want.

I recently had a tour as part of an employer engagement program with our Local Authority. They seemed to want less people on the shop floor with technical knowledge and more salespeople. Staff carry around a pen drive with all the product details on anway so they dont need to remember anything about the systems.

I did get give a pack with the aptitude test and interview questions as well but as with everything I get given I have lost it.

which store you at ? Am at staples myself.

Sales aint what it use to be though about 3-4 years back it was all commision based, use to see my m8s doing 20hr shifts making more money then I was ! and I was on 40hrs too ! All they did was sell Norton/Printers and the laptops and pcs with £5 cabs and £1 cabs incentives. In fact my m8 use to just stand next to the Norton pile and give customers half price offers saying its £29.99, just to make a £1 cab off it every 5 minutes lol cheeky git use to do 2 days and 3hrs work and still make more then myself and I was on 40+hrs per week! I hear some stores are still commision based like the new one at heathrow terminal where my old boss is the GM there :)

OOOOOOO - staples corner hey! Go you ;)

Im in one of the Leicester stores mate. The bigger and better one of the 2 - next to the M1 more or less. :) (dont want to say exactly because people will hunt me down and sexually abuse me :D)

Some dude from "indian dish served with rice" who is working for us now, says his store is on this CABS thing!! WTF?!?

Really ****** me off because why are some stores doing it and some stores arnt? More importantly - my store...

One of my favourite things to do if I encounter one of their shops. Go in and talk utter **** to the sales people and see how much they agree with, that and go in and ask questions like "will the one with the bigger hdd be faster?"

Man, you are fantastic - have a semen sandwich on me.

umm.. no?
Your right that we dont work on commision, but we dont get anything for selling the warranties or credit agreements.
