If you’re confident that you can handle yourself if he tries anything then talk to him.

Just doing something minor to his car is pretty pointless and childish. You would need to do something pretty serious to his car to make a point, but then you risk him getting the police involved.

Exactly, Im starting to think this is futile, the more I think about it the more I feel like taking it on the chin and relaxing in the thought that my car is better than his, even with a broken wing mirror :)

I think you two are missing the point somewhat. I meant mates of his, i didnt mean go out and get random idiots to scare the offender. Secondly we're not playing a game of look how much better i am than you, it's just a case of making the ***** pay up and not do it again.

I honestly don't see how turning up with a bunch of mates is going to do anything other than escalate the situation. Surely the other guy would just lock the door and phone the police? Or call up a few mates of his own.
 
Suck it and stop being a child, if you've got no real proof he did anything then just leave it, it's not worth the risk of further possible damange/aggro simply for the meagre and lacking sense of satisfaction you may attain.
 
I know it would cause more trouble and it would also be illegal but really if the guy did do that to your car he should be given a leathering. The police are hardly a deterrent in crime, but knowing you will get the (ahem) kicked out of you if you vandalised someones car should be deterrent enough. It doesnt matter if it was provoked, if they guy had a problem with you he should have went to you about it, not your car. There's just not enough consequences with most crime now, thats why people do it. I used to brick it if I hit a car with a football when i was a kid cos i knew i'd get my ass kicked for it. Now if you take a ball off kids that are hitting your car with it, you are in the wrong for taking the ball.. another example of this (ahem)'ed up country.

Why on earth would we think you meant "random peoiple" when you clearly said... "a few mates. That means friends doesn't it? Either way what difference does it make... you're turning up on someones doorstep with a gang, and if you do something like that then you'd better be bloody prepared to back it up with some action, because once you take the fight to someones doorstep it almost guarantees that there is real potential for it escalating into something else completely. For all you know his mates may be bigger, nastier, and prepared to make your life a living hell simply because it gives them their kicks.

That's when it becomes clear how pointless doing something so stupid is, it's simply not worth the grief you could get.

I'm only making a suggestion, there's no need to nit-pick at me. If it was me i'd give the situation a hell of a lot more thought than i give a post on the forums, it would depend who it was and other factors that i would consider. Personally i'd just let it lie and keep an eye on my motor, if it persisted i would take the matter into my hands and se how i could deal with the problem. I'll go now so you can all climb back on your high horses and rant on all night.

I'm not nit-picking, nor am I on a high horse. What makes you think so? Is it just because I disagreed with your suggested course of action? :confused:
 
no, i just think you're reading into what i said too far. It was only a sugestion, if it was a dumb kid who hardly knew anyone then i would take a few of people and scare the crap out of him. however if it was the local nutcase i'd probably leave it.

(and when i say kid i obviously dont mean a ten year old)

when i say loads i dont mean 15,000 a mean a few mates, i'll specify that EXACTLY next time, i wont be rounding them up from the ASBO centre, because A. there's no such things as "ASBO" centres and B. none of my mates are scumbags. I've edited my post for your analysys

I'm still going to have to completely disagree with what you've suggested being a good idea. It's not. Very low chance of anything good coming out of it + very high chance of escalating the situation = No thanks.

It's not unprovoked and did i actually mention any violence at all? I hardly round people up to go kicking doors down to beat the NO SWEARING out of people am i?

Like i said, personally i wouldn't confront the person unless it was the local wimp with a point to prove. I was just throwing the idea into the mix.

If you actually bothered to read any/all of my posts you'll see what i think would be a sensible option.

Y'know people are saying all kinds of dumb NO SWEARING like, lets burn his house down and rape his mum or turn his parents into curry, i just throw in an idea into the mix and i am castigated for it. stupidness
