Well that's it, the guy who wanted to put a computer on every desk (and pretty much has) has retired from his full time job at Microsoft.

Love him or hate him you can't deny he's a business genius and I think he's doing the right thing now by concentrating on the Gates foundation, read somewhere yesterday that's he personally donated $30Billion dollars to the foundation :o
 
yeah, he's donated a ridiculous amount over the years, and i think we will do long after his death (something like part of MS's profits go to the foundation)
 
You have to respect what the bloke is doing for charity. People like him and Warren Buffet can make a real difference with their vast fortunes :)
 
Bill Gates is the man. I missed the program on him tonight, although I believe it was on BBC @ 7 bells for those that are interested. IPlayer should have it on tap.

Love him or hate him, I very much doubt we would be where we are today without Bill and Microsoft. Granted the majority of advancements would have surfaced without MS, but there are many areas where MS led the way. In a time where there were many one hit wonders, MS were constant and to a certain extent shaped the future of computers. I know the official line is Gates stepping down will have little impact on MS, and considering the size of the company that could well be true, but it will be interesting to see where they go from here.

There was a video done by Bill about him leaving Microsoft, made many months ago, which was quiet funny. Can't remember the link though, I'm sure some one will....
 
I'm super envious of what he's achieved.
I couldn't possibly imagine having his wealth, enough that you physically couldn't spend it quick enough before you made it back in interest!

I wonder who his bank account is with :p
 
What i like about him is that he's modest with his money - he is a true geek at heart! :p I mean, take the clothes he wears, right the way down to the car we saw him drive in the show on BBC2. He just doesn't care about the money and as for the charity work...! :)
