ok so its upgrade time, but with 3 machines to up grade (mine, my wife and sons) now i already know that i will be having a oem q6600, Asus P5Q Intel P45 and OCZ 4GB (2x2GB), my wife will be haveing e2000 series cpu, Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L and GeIL 2GB (2x1GB). my son will be haveing my currant x2 3800 with the asrock sata dual and the 2GB of ddr1 that is in my sig, with a sensible clock for aircooling.

now the question that i find myself asking is will the stock cooler on a e2000 series cpu be enough for a very modest 3Ghz overclock or would it be worth it to buy the retail q6600 and useing that cooler for my wife instead. also do you thinhk its a better idea to get the e2200 or the e2180 for a simple 3Ghz overclock, it has to be a very straight forward clock for my wife to allow it ( women  )

hmm.....no one has any comments ...not even a "dont buy a quad a dual core is better for gamming" :p

maybe the way i worded the question wasnt the best so ill reword it.

is the stock heatsink on a e2180 good enough for a 3GHz overclock...?

or would the stock heatsink from a q6600 be better...?

any comments welcome.

I would imagine the stock heatsink from the Q6600 would be better than that of the E2180.. if i remember the Q6600 is copper based and the E2180 coated? long time ago since I saw a stock one :)
