Thinking of selling the PS3 - am i mad?

Sold my PS3 last week as i'd barely used in over the last couple of months, the lack of use and the fact that the big Sony franchises (GT, MGS, Final Fantasy etc) dont appeal to me meant it was always going to go at some point.

To be honest i dont know why i bought it, just had too much cash burning a hole in my pocket and I just wanted to see if they were any good.
Have to say i was impressed with it from a hardware point of view though, great upscaling player, Blu Ray is very impressive, great media centre capabilities and it more than gives the 360 a run for its money.

Thinking about it, i did the same with the PS2, got bored, sold it and wound up buying another one, got bored of that and sold it. Did the same with the 360 and might end up getting another PS3 at some point. I think I may have some sort of mental issues! :p

If the money is a big deal to you then sell it. If not you might as well keep it. Simple really. You'd be crazy not to at least try MGS4 though, it's by far the best game this generation.

It's deffo not the money side of things, i can't help but think sometimes that (although i use it) the PS3 is a waste, seeing as i've got a 360 Elite in the lounge and my sons got a premium on his living room.

Can't help but wonder if i've just got one for the sake of having one.

I would have thought 2 360s is more of a waste than 1 PS3 tbh. Sell 1 of the Xboxs?

edit: Give the Elite to your son, use the PS3 in the living room (mutimedia media benefits (blu-ray, etc.)), then sell the premium. Any 360 exclusives you wanna play Im sure your son wont mind and you can still play MGS4 (best game this gen. ;))

edit again: Ok your post kinda just voided that.

It's a godsend, when me and the missus are watching t.v and our son wants to play a game he can - in his own living room, it deffo isn't a waste.

I got myself one for the lounge so i can play mine with my home cinema and get the full effects - it's amazing btw :D

You see this is why i wanted other peoples take in this.

Am i going to be wanting one again in the near future if i sell?

Only you can answer that!, but I would say if you have the 60GB version then consider whether you would miss any of the features even if you did purchase one later on as I very much doubt we'll see one with BC etc over here again.

Or should i turn it on it's head and get rid of the Xbox 360's i've got and get my son a 40GB PS3?

Depends what games you and your son enjoy I suppose. Personally I prefer the PS3 in my lounge rather than the 360 for three reasons.

1. The games out and forthcoming are far more attractive to all the family (wife included who hates games).

2. Blu ray, yes to expensive to buy atm, but like anything the price will drop and when I rent films I like to have the option of a superior version especially old classics like Close Encounters.

3. Noise, even through I have a reasonable sound system (5.1) it crates me to have a console which sounds like someone running their finger nails down a blackboard.

I do have the 60GB version, my son does play the odd PS2 game on there but im sure i could manage with a 40GB version no probs.:p

In the future you may want another PS3 if you sell it. Just because the games arent there now, Games will always be getting released.

Question is, Do you need the money. If no, I'd keep it. If yes, Sell it.

sold my launch day Ps3, soon got another 6months later, not selling this now as there is to many good games comming for the Ps3. I have two 360's also :)

Sell it and buy another further down the line if you ever want another.

The 60GB features are not an issue tbh, if you ever want to play PS2 games just buy a Slim PS2 for £40-£50, the USB/Card reader isnt an issue either since you can just plug-in a USB hub with built-in card reader if you needed them anyway.

Plus if you do sell now and buy later you would get a better deal (Dual Shock 3 will be included as standard) aswell as making some of the money back

Im edging towards selling tbh

I'll have to have a good think.

Nah, i don't need the money.

Well, Then I'd keep it. Contradicting a lot of advice already given I know. But if you don't need the money. Then selling it seems a waste of time. I know it does nothing for you now, but when/if a game hits that you want to play. You're going to have to go buy the console again.

Is it worth the hassle? I mean for now just put it next to you chair and use it as a foot warmer. It makes your feet niiice and toasty
