first 4870 review

Perfect card for these increasingly challenging economic times..

Doesn't like Lost Planet DX10 for some reason but otherwise looking awesome VFM.

Lost Planet is an nvidia game so no surprises there really.

I belive you are right. All 4870 are gddr5. Thats what gives them there main advantage over the 4850's other than clocks.

Well I thought it would be a good performer I just didnt expect it to be THAT close to the 280GTX, it would appear NV have stuffed up majorly if the other reviews back up what we have just seen!

It really seems like ATi are spot on in their market positioning for their cards. They're attacking three areas - the mid-range with the 4850 vs. the 9800GTX, the higher-mid range with the 4870 vs. the GTX 260 and the top end with presumably the 4870X2 vs. the GTX 280. Good work lads.
