!!!IN STOCK ATI 4870!!!

Well I certainly see how SOME places have dropped them in a week. Not OcUK as far as I'm aware (and I bought mine here on release day - same price now).

They have dropped one by £7 ;)

I guess they will fall more next week.

But the point is nobody is forcing anybody to buy a 4870 today.

It's called free market capitalism. Goods will find their own values based on what people are prepared to pay for them.

You can only accuse ocuk of been wrong if they aren't selling any 4870 today but clearly they are so hence there is nothing wrong with the price.

There are 20+ other places you can buy one from today if they have stock which many don't.

Equally I can find items on other etailers where the price is twice the price of ocuk but they obviously still sell some stock at that price.

Froogle any item you want and the prices will vary by 100%.

Go buy elsewhere if your not happy with the price. It is as simple as that.

Going with kylew on this one, I duly predicted they were gonna be their RRP of £180 as well. Looks like we're both right.

I'm in the corner glaring!

Either way, OCUK's price gouging as there are european sites that have them for 230 euro/£180 including their 19% sales tax.

It also states that without sales tax that they're 193 euro, which = £152. Same as US price ;)

Cant get it at that price anyways mate so its a fail ;) You can say they SHOULD be £180 in theory but in reality they aint!

You're still special. Since the price here is what everyone predicted and since we obviously weren't talking about other retailers prices (as we're not allowed to)

You lose. :D
Sure Tom :o

I kept saying 'disregarding OCUK's prices and price gouging.' I'm not talking about any other retailers specifically, but about the RRP of the product.

Less than 3 months ago the 8800GTX came down to £230ish (before it eventually came down even more) and at £230ish it was being snapped up like no tomorrow, all this on a card that was 18+ months old and at a lower price than anyone else arround, yet here we have a brand new card that smokes the 8800GTX for the same approx price and everyone says its poor price/performance - I dont get it

Potentially that's all permanent customers that could be lost - at the very least those people will likely think again before buying other kit from OcUK.

Maybe so and that is the risk ocuk is taking. However, I always shop around when buying computer kit and buy the cheapest (when in stock). SOmetimes ocuk get my order, other times they don't. Therefore permanent customers in this day and age don't really exist anymore since we can all shop around easily from our homes.

I certainly wouldn't buy everything just from ocuk or just from one other etailer for that matter as you will never get the best price.

I believe we knew what was going to happen Tom! Plus im not gonna be referring any specific etailers or anything but I havent seen one that beats the OCuK price with stock

OC.co.uk: "Do you want number 1 graphics?"
Us: "Yeah we want number 1 graphics. How much there Gibbo?"
OC.co.uk: "£230...each"
US: "£230 buku money; £200 each."
OC.co.uk "No! £230, FSAA, DX10.1, will render the bushy long time."

Apparently that makes you special according to Tom :o

Not forgetting the others out side of Skyboat and I that said it.

I was really looking forward to this card but not at that price. :(

Whilst it does appear very good value against the £400+ GTX 280 it is horrendous value when compared to the sub £140 HD4850.

I wonder if the extra performance the HD4870 has over the HD4850 is due to the memory clock or the core clock?

If the 4850 hadn't came out then I don't think people would be saying that.

Thank god for the massive etailers who do not price guage and only operate at 3-5% margin. They are the one's that force prices down quickly.

In two minds about this. It's a good £30 the wrong side of uncomfortable.

I might wait for other brands/1GB version/price drops.

Decisions... decisions...

Yeah I have just ordered!
I don't mean to rain on your parade mate but I was just about to order from what I think is the same place, but had to ring them first to be sure they had stock. I wasn't very happy with what I heard either.

They say if you order by 8pm you'll get it tomorrow but that sign is wrong, they have 29 on pre-order but they're not arriving until next week. I'll probably end up ordering from OcUK as nowhere seems to have them.
