This is looking promising.

Is released tomorrow if anyone is interested, 27/06/2008.

I like Olympic themed games when done well.. although when they stink, they genrerally do so in a BIG way. There is just not enough of them and this is the first with online play if I recall.

I hope the online play is not lacking though as this could be one of the "surprise" games of the summer.

My only experience of Olympic themed games have been RSI inducing left-right tapping travesties, with the same mechanic for sprinting, long jump, discus, javelin. I don't hold out much hope, but I'll take a look.

The best games of this genre were the U.S. Gold released Summer Games I & II & Winter Games on the Commodore 64, brilliant use of timing and joystick movement patterns (with the odd bit of Stick thrashing). If this game could recreate some of that I would be very interested.

summer/winter games is where it was at, maybe because i'm older but i don't think this will capture the feel of them.

Ahh the classic thumb bashing game, good old ps1 track & field days:P

I think this was also in arcade machine form. I remember playing it in the family room after going to cubs, with me Dad in the pub having a pint. But when i say family room i mean some dank, grotty, musty shed like thing.

EDIT : or maybe that was D Thompsons decathlon.

Any idea what the minimum spec vidcard would be needed to run this even reasonably well. I ask 'cos a friend of the missus has bought this for her son and his system won't even instal it, says it "at least shader mk 3" to run.
I was thinking that the following "might" run it:

A64 4000+ @ 2.4ghz
MSI platinum neo 4 sli mobo
2gb pc 3200 memory
ATI X800XT (not sure if this'll run it really)

What d'ya reckon?:)

They currently have an XP2000, 512 ram, some ati 7500 I think.

I would advise against buying this unless you have an xbox 360 pad for your pc, You can't reconfig any of the controls for other pads and its bordering on unplayable with the keyboard. I bought it, played it for 5mins and took it back due to the aformentioned poor controls and the failure to state the "requirement" for a 360 pad on the box.

I've used my 360 pad and it works ok. its hard to work to actually keep do 100-400m and i cant for the life of me keep up. but i can do most other events fine. swmming is pretty hard on the button bashing though
