Hey all. Due to go for my HM Prison Service assesment day on the 18th of april and was wondering what I can expect? Really hope I pass as it's something I've wanted to do for a long while now! I'm doing mine in Hammersmith btw! ;) Any advice would be great!

Don't take this the wrong way but what appeals about that career? To me it sounds pretty horrible, but maybe that's my ignorance

I have to go on the 17th april in birmingham, friend of mine went january and he said it was very easy, bit of role play etc he passed but unfortunatly for him was not accepted due to a criminal record,i'll gladly tell you all about it on the 17th just bump this thread to remind me;)

Well from what I hear from my brother who is in her majesty's hotel
He just gives "screws" stick all the time

So good luck :)

when he was 15 he was dragged out of bed by the police for football hooliganism (spelling?),anyway he was charged with affray and has to hand his passport in everytime england play abroad, hes 21 now and i think he's ban is up next month, shame really cos hes a great lad:(spose rules are rules though.

What was it like? Could you also give me some idea of what it involves? thanks.

It was over 3 days and basically different people from different departments come and talk to you.
eg : Security, Communications, Child Protection, Drugs Dependency Unit, Admin who show you how to fill different reports in etc.

Hey Homi just wondered how you got on with this? I passed my assessment day and I'm just waiting to hear back from them now. :)

Eager to know how you got on so keep me posted;)

Hey mate fitness date is on the 7th of july. How did you find it?

Fitness test wasn't to bad m8,a couple didn't make it through the bleep test but the rest of the tests were very easy, bleep test is a wierd one because allthough it's only a lvl 5.3 it seemed to start off pretty quick,i did a bleep test of 9.6 a few years ago and that seemed to start at allmost a walking pace.
I start at winson green prison on the 11th august,so i got to hand in my notice this week:D:D:D
HAPPY DAYZ:D
Congrats on passing RAD by the way :)

I was a bit supprised the one girl didn't get through but to be honest i think she gave up far to easily, there were a couple of fatty's that got through no probs.
I've not done any running for 3 years and have never been much of a runner anyway,i really think you need to be seriously unfit or just plain lazy to fail it TBH,i'm sure you will be fine mate;)

May I ask what job it is you are applying for. I've applied for a couple of Psychological Assistant jobs but had no joy. Really wondering what sort of people they are after when the job only requires a minimum of like 5 GCSE's, yet I know they are turning away people with Psychology degrees etc.
