Ive got BF: Bad Company for the 360.

First intro video the BF1942 music plays (redone) but it brought back memorys of the fun playing BF1942, BF Vietnam, BF2 online.

BF2142 is the latest PC BF game, (i have it but never got into it fully, kept going back to BF2).

Never played any of the PC BF games for about a year.

But what are they like now:

BF1942 do people still play, no doubt since EA dont support it there will be cheaters - any good servers to look for.

BF2 - i guess a lot still play this, but i see a lot about cheating etc because EA dont update it any more - again any good servers to look for.

BF2142 - Never go into it - any mods like BF1942 or BF2/Desert Combat out for it.

It been ages since ive been on these games, so if poss i dont want to use/join servers full of the saddos that cheat online.

I've always found that the reported hackers in public svrs has always been exaggerated and BF2 is no different in my experiance. Yes, there are hackers, but stick to admined servers where you usually get balanced games then they really are a small problem.

The is a new beta BF2 patch in the works which will bring in 1 more map, so not a bad time to pick it up again.

ive got BF2 reinstalled - been playing on some ranked servers and getting memories of when i last played 2 years ago.

But i noticed once i installed the new patch the sounds are different.

1) In the sound options i select Creative X-FI click apply and it gives a message saying i dont have the hardware to support it - errm well what is thta creative X-FI sound card sitting inside my PC.

Any way to fix this.

2) Some sounds changed in the update - main one i noticed was the tanks and the reloading noise - the new update its rubbish - any way i can get the old sounds back with a sound pack or something.

I sometimes go back to BF2, but playing anything before that, BF:V in particular, would make me a little sad as I have so many good memories of it that I don't want to ruin. Sad, I know :)

X-Fi set to gaming mode?

Ditto, gave 1942, DC and BF:V a blast with the people I used to play with - not all as well we've gone out different ways. DC is absolutely pants, my god what a conversion but it's no way near as fun as 1942 and probably showed with how many people play it. No issues finding a packed ’42.
Vietnam was a good game, just over shadowed by the scale of 1942 and DC. Lots more games could be made out of that war but it's still a saw point so not many are.

Probably give BF:V and '42 a few more games before it's shelved probably for the last time.

Gave Spearhead a wizz too, UNA were still about, was if I never left :P

BF2 is still great... plent of servers.

BF2142 is only alright. Best played with some people you know or on a friendly server where the teams are reasonably even. Be sure to squad up.

X-Fi bugs... ah i remember them.

yip latest drivers, before in installed the patch - well while it was downloding, i played a few local server games which me just to get control settings to how i like etc and to get used to it again.

After i installed the patch the tank sounds are different (new sounds are rubbish from the old ones).

Noticed this the last time i used to play aswell.

Got an X-Fi Music - or Gamer as the creative update now classes it as that,
