Fastest you can go for 8k?

be aware that you get used to acceleration very very quickly. something that is fun and rewarding to drive would be my aim.

be aware that you get used to acceleration very very quickly

*** - if acceleration is the only good thing about a particular car you will tire of it quickly. There comes a point when the acceleration of ANY car you own becomes simply normal rather than amazing - you get used to it and your standard for acceptable acceleration aligns itself with the performance your car offers. Then you get bored if the only thing the car did well was accelerate quickly.

I echo the points made, you get used to cars really quickly and then start trying to find something faster or more raw. Look as some yank stuff cheap to fix and insure, fast aswell. Mustangs etc.

I'd go for fun over speed, there's only so much speed that you can use on the road without seriously compromising your licence.

How about an Integra or an MX5, both fun cars that will entertain you every time you drive them

Top speed doesn't really bother me. Acceleration is really what does it for me.

Get something cheap with a big turbo then. You can pootle around off boost when you can't be bothered but still hoon around in the power band when you want to put a smile on your face.

If you can find a good example, Fiat 20VT's are still huge fun, and stupidly cheap.

Why don't you hold on and wait till you can afford the insurance costs of a scoob or Evo? Or get an everyday car to pile on the miles and a scoob for weekend fun, which is what i'll do once the insurance is more reasonable for me.

A '93 onwards Corvette C4 will do nigh on 180MPH for well under 8k and can be used daily, return up to 30 to the gallon, is cheap to insure and cheap to service.

Easy to modify too and the potential is pretty unlimited - everything's off the shelf for these - twin turbos, superchargers, you name it.....

Won't fall apart like TVRs and the like, either.

An £8k Evo requires a service every 4500 miles. These are also not cheap services.

To be honest, servicing prices aren't that bad. Its just how often they are.

These are the prices from one of the better Mitsu tuners out there.

The Mitsu main dealers aren't that bad either.

Are you wanting something medium sized or will you consider something like a 182? Then theres the usual Cupra-R and CTR
