Anyone eat Rabbit? ( and other stuff...)

It's been a long time since I ate a rabbit, but I remember it being sort of chickeny. I didn't know it was rabbit till I had finished it, it was made into sort of breadcrumbed burgers on a roll with salad.

I've been vegan for 10ish years, so it's a stretch, but I remember enjoying it.

I use just one big chefs knife for most things, but I've got a couple of smaller ones too mainly to look good on the wall. You can get away with just one knife IMO :)
Globals, very nice I really like them but I haven't really tried any other quality knives to compare.

See I find a 12cm utility knife the most important and what I use 90% of the time.

You do need a big knife for the big veg and meat joints. It's a bit hard cutting a butternut squash or swede with such a small knife. What are the ones called with the really wide blades, usually around 18cm. I find these good for such dense items.

But It would be nice to have a much bigger range.

The smell of cooking rabbit is so vile. I would never eat a lagomorph unless there was some sort of war on and there was no food. This is defo WWII food along with Spam, any kind of offal and allotment grown veggies. I would go for the last one though.

Rabbits aren't rodents.

Rabbit and bacon pie = heaven.

Or even rabbit and knuckle pie! Now we're talking.

rodents?

I suppose your also the type of person who turns there nose up at cheap cuts and then proceeds to put inferior steaks in pies and stews.

When I eat beef it is either a roasted joint or as a steak. Unless it is an Oriental dish. I am quite happy with my palate, thank you.

your palate is missing so much and for what?

some stigma of poor meat? all the cuts come from the same animal. Why is it you will only eat steaks.

I am an extremely fussy eater and chef.

This might just be a semantic mixup over county lines, but I wouldn't think a 'chef' would say such a thing. Perhaps call yourself a 'cook?'

Consider eating duck or belly pork, the two meats I could not be without.#

On the knife thing, I went into TKMAx a few times in a row until I found something to my liking. A decent Stellar 20cm Cooks knife for £12. It's served me well for a few years now.

Love rabbit, I love game in general, but whats even better is when you shot it yourself.

Best way to do rabbit is stewed or curried. It dries out easily so not really a fan of it fried.

What is tasty is get say 10-12 rabbit brains and spread them on thick toast, delicious.

I especially like deer as far as non mainstream meat is concerned but I don't even think you can get it in england, never seen it in a butchers and i'm fairly sure it's not legal to hunt here. America though, good time hunting the deer and the meat is so succulent.

It's still legal to hunt deer in the UK, and many butchers in these parts (NW) sell venison and venison products :D The only difference is, now, you can't catch them with dogs (unless it's "by accident"). You have to shoot them :p

As rainmaker says, pretty much ever butcher will either stock or get venison in for you.
