I think the way to stop getting frustrated is to leave them to choose whatever hardware they think is best while you load up on the most uber kit possible! ;)

Good on you for caring so much about your m8 and that but if they don't wanna listen to you and hear what knowledge you have to share just leave them too it, trust me you will feel better almost straight away!

When they see Crysis running at 100FPS in high def on your system they may start to realise your da man! :cool:

God knows. On lauch I would expect with the waterblock costs and the fact they are a premium product and may even claim the fastest single gpu card in some games, I can see them been in excess of £300 and maybe £350+

WHat they will be by xmas, who knows.

I think brand loyalty in computer parts is someone being too comfortable with what they are used to, and/or believing hype/marketing too much. I told my friend to get 2x4850 rather than a GTX 280, and it took a while for him to listen to me, because to him, Nvidia was the best brand and ATi cards were poorly built. That mindset usually comes from either being a fragrant fan boy or someone who believes anything they see.

It's not like a clothes brand or a brand of sausage, it's a constantly evolving market which changes rapidly. Today Intel/ATi are your price/performance kings, tommorrow it could be AMD/Nvidia, or maybe even Via/S3, who knows!!
 
iv got my pennys saved up i cant wait for somthing good :D:D

and emagine if they make a 4870x2-x :P version of the super 4870!
aswell as a 4870x2 of the normal 4870
 
brand loyalty.

the amount of people i know who purchased a 3ghz odd P IV when for less money at the time you could get say an AMD64 3800+

you always get it, each to their own.

me personally i buy the best i can get for the money i want to spend.

<thats not to say i dont screw up now and then>

more tbh :P 410 pounds from absolutely nothing, 2 yrs of xmas and bday money, havent spent a penny for 2 years lol, :D

And i have whats called my "computer tub" and i put about a fiver/tenner or spare pounds in that per week, and iv got about 250 in that too :)
