Bit of midnight insanity for you all
According to importer YesAsia, the PlayStation 3 version of Soulcalibur IV will join the ranks of games requiring a substantial installation to the console's hard drive. How substantial? Substantial. About 6.5 GB worth of your HDD, with 2 GB of space on top of that allocated to save data.

Xbox 360 fans may also be in hard drive requirement heaven

It's worth it though :(

hmm ill think ill actually have to upgrade my hd soon, im constantly deleting demos and only have ~10 gig remaining

There are also reports of it only working on 360 consoles with a hard drive, it all seems much for a fighting game.

I can't understand why Core or Arcade 360's were ever packaged in the first place they're pointless. I bought a Premium and the harddrive was to small. I now have a 512mb memory card a 20gb harddrive and a 120gb harddrive. I may buy an external harddrive for 360 too. :D

2gb of save installs, they seriously must be joking.

Looks like people will end up buying external hdd's.

That's what I was thinking. Why would a fighting game need installing?
Surely loading the stages and characters is enough. If games like Call of Duty 4 can be played without installing, then having to on Soul Calibur IV seems like poor coding on capcoms behalf.

Because sony forces all developers to use blu rays despite 95% of games not needing anywhere near that.

More like 99% or higher. I believe only MGS4 needed Blu-Ray (and that's only because of all the cut-scenes), all the other games on PS3 could be done on DVD and I believe there are over 100 games on PS3 now?

That's just stupid. It's a sign of lazy developing, nothing more. Sony need to do something about it.

i think its because blu-ray drive is very slow compare to dvd drive,
correct me if im wrong?

Your wrong, they have the same average read rate despite the blu-ray only being x2 compared to the 360's dvd drive being x12 I believe.

Insomniac stated on a recent podcast how they had to do some cutting and *unwanted compressing* to get just R+Ctod to fit on a 25gb disc there was no padding or duplicate files.

Plus there is the point where theres a good chance that the game will be for the HDD models of the 360 only as well, but unsurprisingly the usual trolls on here skip over that issue.
