No x4. You've taken a quote out of context and asked four questions that don't relate to it, most of which have been answered previously in this thread anyway.

If he is all powerful then he must be able to sin, cf the paradox of a rock so heavy that God cannot lift it.

i was jokingg.. but i would like to know what answers you can come up with?

Well your primary problem for the first two questions is that you are taking what a selection of Christians believe, namely Young Earth Creationists (YEC from now on). yantorsen isn't a YEC as far as I'm aware, I'm not entirely sure what he believes as he hasn't elucidated very well but that is another matter. YECs are a pretty small segment of Christianity and deny that the Earth is over 10,000 years old (although I've heard figures as low as ~6,000 years), most Christians that I've ever met or spoken to are quite happy to broadly accept the general scientific estimate for the age of the Earth and that dinosaurs existed.

The Bible as we currently have it is collated by man and edited to suit the compiler of the time so some books have been omitted, others amended and so on. I suppose it depends what you mean by lying here.

Father Christmas is rather different to god in that you can more or less empirically prove that he doesn't exist either through the tracing of origins (Coca-Cola giving us the now traditional red-coated version) or through a simple mathematically proof of the impossibility regarding visiting all homes in one night, the size of sleigh needed, the speeds that a reindeer can achieve etc etc.

No problem for a god.

o im sorry. I didnt know that feeding 5000 people with a few fish and bread was possible.. and fitting all the animals on an ark in the whole world was possible.. O and also Jesus seperating the seas so the israelites could walk through.. O and the fact there is no evidence whatsoever that the Jews were made slaves in Egypt.. etc etc

Santa Claus is your god? I'm sure that this consumerist culture will be delighted to hear that. But good work on ignoring the point anyway.

You too.

OK, I've not put my 2c in yet but here goes...

Whats with this blind faith stuff?

How can anyone believe that God does or does not exist, and why believe either way?

ahhh man, people discussing this again, lol

Is no such thing as god, its really quite obvious, people on about 'there gods' and all this, saying that puts it clearly in the relm that its a construct in someones brain, not real. etc etc and 5 trillion other points he's not real.

Time people looked out the window instead of leaving there head buried in a book

what point did i ignore. I thought that was a valid argument thank you. You cant say father christmas isnt real because its not possible when **QUITE CLEARLY** most of the stuff in the bible isnt possible..

I used to believe in God... but why would he exist if those closest to you die at the wrong time?

Or when you need them most... and if he is real why would he/she let horrific things happen yet the person who commits them isnt punished?

thats my "own personal" view.

free will or some stupid religious cult rambling on would say

so it lies then. I just cant understand how people believe in God.. baffles me

So if I use a metaphor when writing a post I'm lying?

So you ignore bits you don't like or agree with?

Stop putting words in my mouth.

If you treat the Bible as a metaphorical account (or at least partially), as I suspect the vast majority of Christians do, then it becomes not only possible, but necessary to interpret it in a certain way. That's not the same as picking which bits to believe and which bits not to believe.

I sometimes wonder whether people are deliberately being obtuse and facetious in these arguments or whether they're so blinded by their own arrogance and narrow-mindednes they genuinely can't understand

Edit: for the record, I'm not religious.

Your concept of God seems to be quite odd, where did you get it from?

I find that one of the advantages of having your head buried in a book is that you learn things (presumably "buried in a book" means that you are reading it, and not just hiding in there).

:)

Ahh the old 'religous intelligent response' :p Can you tell iv discussed this a million times ?

AND here we go...........

I SAID

Referring to people discussing this concept of there god above my post. God in any way shape or form discussed by humans since humans thought there was a god IS OF COURSE what im referring to ! berlimey.

As for your advantage to having your head buried in a book helps you learn things, your loss my friend if that book is talking utter rubbish, learn about the world around you by observing it, not on other peoples idea of the world, if you must read a book try and weed out the reputable ones that at least claim to write things down based on someones observations.

To get ya started here is a subtle clue: (is a cheeky joke by the way ! lol, however the warning IMO should be ON ALL BIBLES/religious text)
