New 200bhp Yamaha V-max (2009) governed to 137mph topspeed

I aint reading all of the posts but ive seen enough from flukesta to know hes a jack ass! Congrats on doing 140mph+ on the road! All because its fun. Im sure you will be thinking its fun when you dont read the road so well with your super powers and hit something. Worse thing is, the driver will feel like hell for it when it more than likely wont be his fault. O and the "I haven't crashed in years so ill be fine" excuse is complete BS. Ive not had a bird **** on my head for 10yrs dont mean it wont happen again.

Your license should be revoked until you can grow up.

yeah you guys all stick to your speed limits... if you all do that everyday and really think your whiter than white then I'll eat my bike!!!!

maybe there is the odd one of us that does obey every speed limit, but those people are few and far between, drive mondeos and are called trevor.

edit: beware the interweb police are here, ohnoes ;)

edit edit: i might come across as some uber troll type, but it's just because I say what I think and am not here to please anyone or pretend to be someone I'm not.. it's just abit of fun, but I speed, the first step to curing your bad habits is to admit them in public so I guess I'm part of the way there to being a sensible person like yourself :)

No, the majority of people here don't stick to speed limits, but 160mph is just far, far too much.

what made me laugh is some guy saying, oh yeah 140 is ok, but any more than that and your some kind of hooligan.. makes me pretty mad tbh, safe speed is goverened purely by road conditions, your skill and the capabilites of your vehicle.

lucky for me I do as I please... and I don't give 2 hoots what people who don't agree think.

it's good to talk these things through though, maybe I am totoally in the wrong, in which case i'm a fool...

to the other guy who asked, i'm 37, and prolly old enough to be your dad (maybe I am lol)

Well said!

Where do you know of any roads that are safe for 160mph on a bike ???

(I.E no chance of rabbits, cats, deers etc running into the road, no sand, oil etc on the road,,No bits of cars like broken parts of exhaust pipes ,wheel hub caps etc laying in the road )

I remember a bird flying into me and almost knocking me off my bike when i was doing 90mph down a motorway in france..(And to think i use to worry about wasps/bees getting in my helmet)

I would have said cars would out break bikes as well, was ready to argue strongly for that but unfortunatly a quick google has give the initial results that from 60 bikes seem to need 120ft to stop, cars around 160ft.

Flukester how do you find you bike is at higher speeds on public roads especially these 140+ runs as i always assumed that on most roads were way to bumpy for bikes to head round at that speed most of the time, as you would just run a very high risk of getting chucked off or the bumps ruining your next breaking zone?

What I will say is I don't ride really fast all the time, prolly 99.5% of the time I'm just moving through traffic like any other biker... but sometimes, and only sometimes I open her up just for fun.

Tons of roads are straight, traffic / police / rabbit / deer / free and when I find these roads I have abit of fun... and when I do it's just a quick burst. It's easy to forget a good bike will get to silly speeds in just a few seconds, so once to that speed I don't hold it, just slow back down again.

Your average dual carriage way (when empty) is usually ideal for a quick burst of speed...

edit: sorry if I'm come across brash and troll like here, I'm quite passionate about speed and the whole 'PC anti speed brigade' that is flavor of the month with this goverment... don't mean any disrespect. :)

This pretty much sums up the majority of the biking population.

Nowt wrong with having fun but there is a time and a place for it :)

118 ?, what car is that, or is it a jap import 400... I think it would be a issue at donnington if you were trying to win a race or put in a fast lap time :(

I know if I had any car / bike with a restriction I'd have find a way to remove it, couldn't go with the feeling that I was being capped even if I rarely used it.

Import Civic-R, didn't even use 5th gear at Donington.

Removing the limiter is simple, I just don't want to.

ahhh, I guess it depends on what power to weight you have, if really high you'd need to go even faster... nice motor though, I have a real soft spot for them, and thats a big compliment from a hater of tin boxes :)

what is the difference between 130 and 160 ??
if you come off at either speed you're screwed, it's just a matter of how far your bike slides down the road after not how safe the speeds are.

Because it's a powerful bike doesn't mean people will do them speeds.

I didn't say there was a difference, but saying (and performing) it's perfectly ok to do speeds of 160+ on public roads is rediculously disillusioned.

no more silly than doing 130-140, whats the difference doing twice the limit to doing 2.28 times the limit

speeding is silly in the wrong place / conditions / machine no doubts, people who do that are putting others lives at risks and thats just not on.

i think we are in the last stages of motoring where there are no limits on vehicles.. we best enjoy it while we can. give it 20 years and we'll be looking back and dreaming of what we used to be able to do.

i didn't say 130, 140 or 160 was acceptable for public roads! at the end of the day you show a complete disregard for the law and other road users by saying it's fun to do 160+ on public roads.....and then brag about it.

if there are no other users on the road at the time it shows no disregard to them.. so thats ok

showing disregard to law, I just don't care..

nothing to brag about either, I just twist and go, but leaves me grinning ear to ear, deffo a feeling more people should experience at sometime or another..so worthy of trying to get others to try the same time to time.

guess we can agree to disagree.. is a never ending discussion, everyone has their own views, no-one can prove being right or wrong :)

Is it just me or is this kind of attitude that of a teen who has been driving for 6 months and thinks he knows all already?

Luckily I haven't had to encounter a bike rapidly approaching my backside yet.

How old are you btw dude?

ive had an argument with this clown before.

He thinks hes gods gift to motorbikes and nothings going to happen and hes not bothering anybody doing 170 on UK A roads. Leave hime be, and let natural selection take its course

so i'm a clown because you stamp your feet and can't get me to agree ?, come on m8, it's just a interweb forum no need to wish me dead.

we have our different views no need to get in a interweb strop. ;)

just speaking my mind, doesn't make my views any less valid than yours :(

I think we should kiss and make up :D

ps: on my gravestone will read 'he had a good time and a lot of laughs, died age 95 on a 2050 Hayabusa with a big grin from cancer of the big toe'
