.I booked tickets for last year thinking the Vulcan would make it.
Even though the vulcan obviously didn't make it, I still thought it was pants compared to previous year. Mainly because there was too much american "smarm" to it.
The whiney bird giving it "bombs on target, on time" speech on the tannoy over an over just got to me.
The Vulcan now has its certificate of airworthiness and is displaying at duxford this weekend coming (12th / 13th)
What would you preferred it be called? I wouldn't call it the Spitfire or Hurricane no, those names have already been used. But it seems logical to use the current name. Hurricane > Tornado > Typoon.
Sure about that? Says on the beeb that it's going to be at the RIAT.
Oops, my mistake, thought it was duxford next weekend they were talking about but its Waddington this weekend. Quote below.
You may wish to know that the CAA issued a "Permit to Fly" for the Vucan earlier this afternoon. The aicraft is now on its way to RAF Waddington for the airshow this weekend.
VULCAN TO THE SKY
NEWS RELEASE
Triumphant return for Vulcan XH558!
When Vulcan XH558 left RAF Waddington on 23rd March 1993, many thought that, sadly, it would be the last time she would be seen in Lincolnshire and that she would never return. Thanks to the passion, optimism, determination and commitment of so many people, led by the Chief Executive of the Vulcan to the Sky Trust, Dr Robert Pleming, the aircraft which took to the skies once again in October 2007, will now make an emotional return to appear at the Waddington International Airshow on the 5th and 6th July.
XH558 is today destined to receive its all important “Permit to Fly” from the Civil Aviation Authority and this will allow her to fly to RAF Waddington and to appear on static display at the Show, to be seen by the many thousands who will visit.
. Screw everything else.awesome - we're going to waddingtn tomorrow. It didnt look like the Vulcan would make it so this is just the icing on the cake of what should be a great show - weather permitting
