I just got mine activated and got the texts. I couldn't complete all the info they wanted, as it timed out again when I tried to submit. However, my hone works and I've got an itunes account.

Now, how to I get the apps I bought onto my phone?

Select the option to automatically sync them.

Yep, first got the activation texts then about 10 mins later Itunes got its act together and my phone now fully works, Happy Days :)

Good luck everyone else!

Simon keep your sim in the iphone!

So.. do they take the phone out of the box, or is it all done on a computer system?

Wouldn't want some slimey sales assistant dropping the phone on the floor.

UPDATE!

Just this second got a load of text's from o2 telling me my passwords and such and my iphone is now working so i can use it at least, still not activated it.

Seems like keeping it switched on works for new users :)

Yeah I got that when I turned it on, I was able to use the phone fine but not able to sync it with iTunes until I activated it.

EDIT: what does everyone online bill say? Mine says there is no bill yet.

Wait...i registered it through itunes, and now the new sim doesnt seem to work, still says no network, and i get the message ' need network signal to activate' is there a delay or something?

Dammit, got the emails with all my account info and the phone itself is fully activated, but no texts nor working phone yet.. I'm assuming this is something to do with me taking out a brand new contract and something somewhere processing something-or-other. As per.

For those who may have missed it on the o2 site..

"The activation of the mobile service for new customers will be within 2 to 3 days given the volume of sales on Friday."

Get comfy lads.

Hmmmm.... I picked up my new 16 gigger today, just put my old sim in and voila....

But....

iTunes recognised that I had an old iPhone and managed to re-sync all sorted... But when I get to the registration screen, it asks me to enter my apple store ID, which I do.. and then it pulls through the data... but it keeps thinking I'm in the states!

Anybody else having this issue?

I think most of them were just done on paper... the o2 stores were knackered today... absolutely beasted with customers!

I sneaked one out of cpw and their systems were all fine...

Still a wee bit of a balls up though!

So i've just activated via iTunes, and there's still no service. I thought that's all that was required?

Props to CPW for saving the day, they seem to have minimal problems activating and managed to secure a huge volume of stock meaning they were able to take orders throughout yesterday and most of today. Me and my girlfriend strolled into the local CPW about 1:30 pm and picked up our online orders from yesterday, got them home and on the network in no time, nothing to sign or sort out in store, all sorted in the ordering process online. I had my doubts about CPW but they have been great.

Hi mate, you mean itunes says its all fine but your phone is getting no signal?

Thats what I get, I phoned up o2 and they said the Apple store should have done everything, but I bought it 2 hours ago when their system was down and had to do telephone activation. All I have is the phone, sim and an activation number :(

2-3 days then?
