New watch for me.

Just bought a Tag Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph, its a replica from china. I wanted a watch that looked nice and for £25 was willing to take the risk of it being complete crap. Happily what turned up was not complete crap, was very high quality and after comparing it to a 'genuine' one bought for £725 I can safely say there is no way they can be told apart, they are the same weight and feel, none have defects or differences and all the functions on the replica work exactly as they should.

Infact I m going to put my head on the line here and say the 'replicas' are probabily originals taken from the 'genuine' factory or something, materials and build quality is exactly the same, they are that good, even has all the markings/serial numbers and logos. Long gone are the days when replicas, where rubbish quality. Quality 10/10 Value 10/10. Just goes to prove how much profit the brands are making and ripping us off in the process.;)

i thought the only reason to buy watches like this were for nautical reasons, failing that you just like to show off. If it makes you happy then thats the main thing. Personally i'd put the money into something else...
We could start a new thread "best ways to waste a grand".

Now Im not a watch afficionado, but these sorts of negative posts pollute every watch thread. Im sure if you pointed most of the general public in the way of General Hardware they would call that a waste of a grand, some might say the same of Motors. Point being we all have different hobbies/passions on which to spend our dosh.

:eek:oh god! 1k on a watch.. something that tells you the time!!

i didnt know you could get watches for that price, mind you it looks dam nice.

i paid 90 quid for mine and thought that was a lot of money!:o

As for the posts telling me that i should've kept the Omega, i've had that for nearly 4 years and i've worn it every day.

Whilst it's a nice watch i think that blue faces have had their day and i fancied a change.

I've always wanted a Breitling and thought carefully as to which one i chose as there are so many models.

The pictures don't really do the watch justice, it looks amazing and even better on my wrist that the Omega which is saying something.

:)

Might be the case regarding Tags and replicas, just shows that the Tags have come down in quality over the past few years.

Thats nice, its looks better in the flesh than the picture though :)

I quite like the two tone effect with the brushed bezel

Gaz, have you got any Breitlings?

I can't remember :D

Nah pretty low on watches at moment

All I have is the JLC Extreme world chrono and an Omega Planet Ocean

Only Breitling I ever bought was an immaculate used Navitimer Fighters but within an hour of it arriving my brother claimed it :D

Can someone explain to me why everyone likes watches? I just dont get it.

Erm, it's OK not to like things you know :) I hate cars with a passion, couldn't care less about clothes. I love watches tho.

I'd like to know why so many don't get why people like watches

Well, here's a bit of an update.

Ive been a bad boy and i've gone and splashed out on the original one i wanted.

So now i'm going to have to sell the Super Ocean :p

This is what im going to be wearing now as of tuesday :D

Now i know a lot of you wont see why i've spent the money on this but it's because i like it, plain and simple.

Why do people buy pieces of art? Why do people go for attractive vapid girls? While I don't share the expensive watch bug (nor could I afford to), I certainly understand the attraction.

I'd rather someone odd-looking than something like the Breitlings that have been posted, which do look gorgeous but they just look like an expensive watch. Something like the Quinting I'd love to be able to afford, just because they're so distinctive.

Do the Breitlings keep their resale value well?
