The Witcher-Official Thread

Damn, if nailing birds was this easy :).

Really getting into the swing of things now, all those complicated menus now make sense (although i still just chuck my level up rewards on anything, which one increases health ?). In a strange way, i sorta like having to spend a long ammount of time in one area, makes you get to know the place, unlike Oblivion where you just teleport from everywhere :).

Also like the fact this isnt for kids, hehe.

Hi, this is a massive thread so I searched it but still couldnt find what i wanted, so:

How can I force V-sync with an ATi card? The 'tearing' is doing my head in.

Got it yesterday, I'm really liking the cut-scenes and the adult maturity of the game.

Unfortunately I'm forced to play it on my old P4, 6800ultra system, as my main systems mobo is on RMA. So its clunky atm.

Is it just me or does Geralt look like Daniel Craig but with long hair?

Decided to start The Witcher again yesterday. Basically cos id left it so long i lost touch with it.

What a bloody game. I was on it from 2 - 8pm without even knowing it. I bleeding love it.

Easily one of the best games of its kind.

To attack: move the cursor over the opponent you want to strike and left click. To do a combo: wait until the sword icon changes to one with flames around it then click again.

Ive started the game again as of yesturday, this time i will finish it:p My first play through when the game first came out i got stuck on act 2 against thoes plant monsters in the swamp.
Now that ive restarted im on act 2 already and my character is a lot stronger than my first playthrough. Ive found a lot more quest to do and this is got to be the best rpg in along time.

Going back to thoes plant creatures in the swamp whats the best way to kill them, is that fire spell any good?

That's what I used, though it took a while of ducking around. I ran into one just outside the first swamp village without knowing what it was and was glad the rest of the swamp creatures weren't that tough.

Any news of the extended edition? I might play through again when that's out.

The swamp is probably the first area you get to where your type of attack (heavy or fast) becomes important. Once you use the right attack I found it was usually OK - unless the game decided to stun-lock you, as it sometimes did.

But the whole game is still far too tedious.

What it is mate is one big plant monster which you get a trophy for when killing it, itself is a quest and the thing creeps up on you all the time in the swamp until you kill it.

ONce you do it once it never comes back and the swamp is pretty easy after that.

I remember when i 1st played it and i seriously thought jesus wept, this is a huge jump in monster strength, and there are loads of them.

You do get little ones after that, but they are nothing really.
