Can I make Ford pay for my paintwork? (chipping Focus ST)

If you are bothered (and I would be) I'd get the bumper resprayed and then get some of that acryllic paint protection film on it.

Mines the same dude, ive had mine repainted, but that was due to some crap flying up at me on the motorway.

Its quite a bull nosed front so it susceptable to chips more so than other cars, my mates audi A3 is the same.

You should see the state of my bonnet, mind it doesnt help that I spend a lot of time in the BMW/Audi lane.

looks like standard soft paint stonechips really, apart from in the first picture whats the deal with the cracked looking bit on the bottom right?

try not to tailgate so much :D

thats just more peeled off paint!

And I don't tailgate, its one of the things I hate the very most.

I'd get that rust sorted first. 2nd to last pic.

Yea just noticed that, looks quite bad and seems to be creeping under the paint. Get that sorted before it gets any worse.

Then use dr colour chip on the stone chips and after that give it a good wash and use some quality wax to protect it.

thats a good point actually, thinking about previous cars I've had this is about as flat fronted as I've ever owned.

Why do I have to like it so much?? There are hundreds of cars out there that would be better for me!!

Damn Ford.. I can see me having this until i get talked into a very unwise RS decision sometime next year.

Looks very similar to my front bumper @50k. I don't think there is anything too out of the ordinary to approach the manufacturer with. Fox's suggestion of protective film sounds like a good one.

Dont drive so close to the car in front.

that's what i was gonna say.
I wonder if there is any way we can correlate the amount of stone chipping to the amount of tailgating that takes place?
who's gonna admit they are a serial tailgater?

Has anyone from the group buy used it yet and can say if its any good?

I bought it although not from the group buy. It's excellent stuff and really simple to use. It pretty much eliminates all shallow stone chips. Deeper chips require layering over a number of days but this works quite well.

Some cretin keyed the front of my car and after about 20 layers, it still isn't gone but it has certainly made the gouge less visible.

If you have quite a lot of stone chips, definitely go for the biggest kit.

well it certainly ain't me, I rear ended an unmarked police car about 6 years ago when not paying attention in a 30mph contraflow thing on the M5.

Not much damage but jesus christ the fuss was enough to make me very bumper averse :)

ER....... hog the outside lane expect and to be abused tbh:p

Its not so much the tailgating that chips that cars, its more the driving at 80mph+ speeds.

thats what i was thinking, most of its flies!

should have seen my old fiesta after driving past a road gritter. there was more primer on my bumper than there was blue paint :p:(

to matt100, this isnt a issue for ford to fix, its just normal wear and tear.

I do wash but not wax tbh, its had 44k in just over 18 months, it's just a waste of time trying to keep it clean (well, on the face of it...)

oooooooooooh :( your poor car... a waste of time to clean it :( poor thing. needs a new owner to give it some TLC :(

Wash, Polish with SRP, then SEAL with Extra gloss protection. stays clean for months after that.
