Samsung LE40A656

I've always been a big fan of Samsung LCD's - I own the LE40F86.
Whenever I went out to look at LCDs before I purchased, the Sony & Samsung panels just seemed to stick out above the rest.

I've not had the chance to see the new 6 series in the flesh yet - however if it builds on Samsung's already good panels it will be good.

^^ yeah I was originally going to get the M87 but after hearing about all the problems it put me off. I like the samsungs though due to the design and they generally look great in the shops.

How are people getting on with this lcd given its been out for a couple of months now? everyone still happy; no issues/bugs? :)

Got mine a few weeks back, came with the latest firmware so there was no need to mess around updating that.

Tis my first HDTV so I can't really compare it, but it's pretty damn awesome.

I only use it to game or play dvds/blu-rays on my ps3 so I can't comment on the freeview picture.

Playing normal DVD's with the SD settings from HDtvtest.com the picture is superb.
Gaming and Blu-Ray playback are just brilliant aswell. There is apparently input lag when not using game mode (which makes games look pretty bad imo) but I can't say it's noticable, I still sucked as much playing MGO with and without game mode on :)

Will post some pictures later on if anyones interested.

had 1 for 2 weeks and the picture quality is great ( Both HD and SD, hooked up to Sky HD via hdmi ),

BUT...... Samsung's quality control must have gone down the pan as it took 3 tv's before the one i got was of good enough quaility that i accepted it.

1st one had a very loud cooling fan - sent back. second had a scratch on stand and a gap that let light through between panel and the surrounding red bit - sent back. third one kept as was ok.

So get a good one, there great, but a few bad ones around to check well when delivered for problems.

Babyface

unfortunately that's the main problem with samsung these day. As badbob says, until they sort it I won't recommend them to anyone because of the hassle.

Have seen these in the flesh a couple of times and was smitten. Listened to one today and it sounded puny, so bad I probably couldn't live with it! Real, shame 'cos it's pretty.

Wasn't the picture thoght that was gorgeous, couldn't tell you what mode it was.

It was the sound that concerned me, I won't be hooking up to an Av amp.

Yeah flat screen sound quality is well non existant. Just treble really. I'd pair it up with a pair of decent PC speakers, and mute the Samsung speakers.

That's a good point could go for something like Aegos. Downside is space and I like to keep it minimal. If I had a big room and detached house, I'd go the full hog.

I did hear a Sony that was more like it 3000 can't rember the full prefix.

I've had mine for a month now, I'm still loving it! I have speakers so i've never used the inbuilt ones. The only thing that annoys me is that to change between HDMI and freeview I have to cycle through all the inputs :(
