okay so i had jw-ip35-pro

and cpu voltage was 1.45 and clocked to 3.0ghz

ran 3dmark06 and motherboard blew, great huh?

i smelt a kind of burning smell and then comp went off

cpu didnt go above 55 tho, this is the 2nd time and so annoying

i wont overclock again :(

now need a new board to run my q6600, 4870 and 4gb 6400 ram

any suggestions please?

i need 1 with crossfire support and 1 without please

and the cheapest would be best as i wont be overclocking anything

its either

a board with crossfire, the cheapest not bothered about overclocking

or a board that has crossfire with onboard graphics

i cant believe i blew my motherboard TWICE!!

am i doing something wrong huddy?

i only put volt to like 1.45 and the cpu to 3ghz

and the cpu stays temp 55ish

then bang i smell smoke and board fried

im so sick

Can you not just RMA the mobo? it might not have been your fault, could just have been a dodgy board.

The only way I can see you frying the mobo is if its shorting on the case somewhere, or if your PSU is a bit on the dodgy side and has surged the mobo...

on the antec p.182 case there are those little metal rods coming out from the case

about 1cm poking out

i just put motherboard on those and screw straight in

is this right?

then what the fak is happening :(

its like

once i run prime or 3dmark06 or something stressful the comp dies within like 15 seconds

so annoying and costing me a lot of money

What do you mean by no response? Do you get the same results as when it's in the case?

yeah the thing is just completely dead now

a bit of board at top looks fried

i mean like the very end and not much at all

Well RMA it, no point shelling out more cash when you can get the board replaced.

When you get the new board set it all up outside the case and stress test it for 24hrs, if its all fine, put it in the case, if it blows again you know something is shorting it!

Also, make sure you only have the mobo risers fitted to the case that match the holes of the mobo.

I'd RMA both of them - J&W will definitely want to know if there is a consistent defect with the board. I've had 3 and only had to RMA once.

They're good boards. I can't imagine what you're doing that could break them by adjusting BIOS options - it's not really possible. I take it you have tried to recover from the BIOS?

failing that - I would definitely recommend the Gigabyte P31-DS3L as a cheap board that clocks well.
