Final Fantasy 13 coming to XBOX 360

Yes it is, the first 3 acts are pretty open ended. Its not just go down 1 straight path. why would it being linear make it any easier to port to the 360 anyway?

For blindingly obvious reasons, but I'll mention the main one just for you:

Linear game = change disk once.

That puts the nail in the coffin of me getting a PS3 :D

I don't get about multi discs, I never heard anyone complaining about 3 Discs on FF VII, this can come in 5 discs and I wouldn't give a monkey's bottoms care about.

Is that really a problem for such a linear game though?

Not a problem at all.

MGS4 would work perfectly well split across multiple DVD's, it's absolutely not an issue. the PS3 needs to install at the end of every act, on the 360 you could just swap discs.

Seriously, I can't believe some people are still banging on about the same tired old arguments.

I was just about to say the same thing. The only problem with multiple discs is that it's more likely one will get scratched and not work. But then again as each disc is used less, it probably doesn't make a difference.

LOL...keep dreaming.

It would be possible to do simply because its seperated into acts, but as mentioned there would be too much change needed to the game that I dont think it would be worth it.

The only thing that would need to change would be the controller for MG3, which would take them about a half hour to do.

1. Otacon's famous "Blu-Ray" disc codec call.
2. Otacon using a Mac laptop.
3. Installing screens using the "This game is exclusive to PS3" or something like that.
4. The 360 would need a Blu-Ray drive. You would need nearly 6 Dual Layer DVD's to fit MGS4 on.
5. Can the 360 handle MGS4? Didn't MGS4 make use of the PS3's Cell processor (more cores or something)?
6. How would the 360 handle MGO with you needing a Game ID and such and you need to sign into PSN to use it.

Yeah, in fairness, it might take just teensy bit of time to reprogram from a Cell-based, high pipeline, OpenGL-based structure, to a GPU-heavy, DirectX system. :p

Incorrect. They'd have to rework relations to the PS3 hardware, the insert disc part, and the in-game podcasts + loading screens. + rose's boobs whilst shaking the controler lol. Aint sure if MS would have a problem with the excess Apple advertising aswell on laptops and G5s as a lot of change would be required for that probably even effecting the iPod + the iTunes you collect.

1. Ohh 1 codec message to be edited out. They would need to add 'Change Disc'
2. Bit of a non issue really, at worst, hide a few apple logo's.
3. Ohhh taking one line of text out an install screen (that the 360 wont need anyway)
4. you don't think it can be compressed any? You not think there is data redundancy employed by Konami too? I would say closer to 4, and the xbox already has a 4 game disc.
5. The engine would just need to be manipulated to use the 360 processor, Kojima himself said it isn't impossible
6. MGO is not MGS4, it is totally seperate.

So, still looking for the imposibilities.

The Xbox and PS2 are more different to each other than the 360 and PS3 are - and we have seen ports of MGS2 for the most part handle just fine on the Xbox. It's not impossible to see an iteration of Metal Gear Solid 4 on 360 eventually, in fact I would daresay it wouldn't be a surprise at all.

It's definately not impossible, Some of the suggestions and comments are far from plausible though, for example

the game fitting on 1 dvd and the movies on 3 dvds, I thought thestig1 had played MGS4 :D That would not work.

Also there's more than 1 codec message that boasts PS3ness, It's mentioned by more than 1 character too, Which would mean either certain scenes would be deleted, or voices would need to be re recorded, So you'd have to pay the voice actor again, just for the port. (UNLESS they had sense and recorded the alternative vocals while the game was being produced initially)

the music in MGS4 is uncompressed, thats why its the best sounding game this gen. They would have to compress it for the 360, Kojima just wouldn't want to butcher his game like that.

I assume the stigs comment was not meant to be take seriously :p

I can only think of the 1, but even then none of it is story critical and could most likely be easily edited out.
