Really wierd, not nice feeling!

I've taken out a who warren before with a shotgun, they did had myxomatosis though seemed the right thing to do, did get a few looks though as it was about 200ft from a A road in a farmers filed, looked like I was going nuts blasting the dirt!

There was myxomatosis around here a while ago, seems to have died down now, but where i work (Food production) there lots of rabbits, squirrels etc around, things like that seem to spread fast.

Ran one flat a few weeks ago in a jeep on the North York Moors by accident.

Got one Rabbit in the Fridge and one in the Freezer at the moment.

They make great pies & stews.

Its different seeing them already dead though i suppose. Like i say, i know theres thousands of the things, but i suppose im reacting to how the old dear reacted, i bet if she'd have said "oh, look at the rabbit" we'd have already passed it by the time id actually processed what she said, and just said "oh yeah".

worst thing i've had to do was put a lamb out of it's misery, after crows had pecked out its eyes, tongue and most of it's innards (was definitely bleeding to death, had no hope)

was in the middle of the field, with no rocks around

hate thinking about that :(

You'd feel much better if you'd finished the poor thing off. Quick blow to the head with a branch/rock would probably do the trick. Not a nice thing to have to do though.:(

It's life. It's natural to feel remorse at the ending of a life.

It's better to know the OP posted that than some fantasy of killing the Rabbit and having pleasure over his action.

I wouldn't have the courage to kill it and that's coming from a Pharmacologist-to-be here.

I do agree with this, animals are killed daily.

She probably does to a certain extent, but she's always been the same.

Out back garden seems to be home to lots of wildlife, even though its not that big the bushes are quite large, at the moment we have a nest of thrush's and over the years we've had lots of birds, hedgehogs etc stranded that she's either taken to the vets or moved somewhere safe.

It's not a crime to have a little compassion, even if they are only animals :)

Was it only me who assumed it to have a tyre flat body with two perfectly fine back legs?

I see your "cute" run over rabbit and raise you 10. The kids in the school i work had seen these in the corner squeaking. No mother around, the caretaker etc looked for ages. So took them back to our room IT Technician/Area manager.

These ducks jumped so high they managed to get out the box and cause havoc, chasing them around the server was not fun. However what a babe magnet these things are. Female Teachers where popping in all afternoon to look at them. I’m taking them out with me Friday night ;)

Lucky the area manager has reared ducks before and was talking them home with him so happy ending for these guys.

hmmm buy her The Rabbit then.. that should put a smile on her face? ...until the batteries run out at least, she may get even more hysterical then than she was over the roadkill..?

I didn't say it was.

However, stopping and getting hysterical to a point of dangerous over some roadkill is OTT if you ask me.

Hardly dangerous considering she checked her mirrors before stopping :) If there was cars behind she would have probably just carried on and turned around.

OTT? Maybe, but people react differently to things :)
