Hi all,

Should hopefully be receiving a 4870 tomorrow,

Was wondering what drivers I should use? Been awhile since I last used an ati card and back then the omega drivers were the best to use with ati tool instead of cat.control centre. As i remember the cat.control centre used to be a bit of a sytem hog, is that still the case?

the catalyst control centre has been improved vastly in usability and more importantly system resource usage, it not only loads faster but uses less resources now aswell.

I think you will notice a big difference in it than from the last time you tried using it.
 
I tried the DNA drivers and GRID just crashes on opening so went back to the 8.6 hotfix drivers. Find they are better than the 8.7 beta.

I find the 8.6 with hotfix are faster and I had a few glitches with the 8.7 betas. But individual results will vary.

I can say that getting rid of the 8.7 to go back to 8.6 is a nightmare to do.
 
I'm using the DNA 8.6 drivers with XP & the DNA 8.7s with vista,with no problems

Did have stuttering problems with COD4 @ 1920x1200 4xAA when i was using the hotfix drivers from ATI,so changed to the DNA's & problem solved

Yeah, where are the full release 8.7's? Shouldn't they be out by now? Currently ATI don't even have the 4800 series cards added to the drop-down list of GPU's.

Like I say, some people have problems, others don't. DNA 8.7 flatly refuses to run GRID in vista whereas ATI's 8.7 and 8.6 work fine so that was enough for them to come off.
