*** The iPhone 3G Thread ***

Hurhur, on the bus this morning and I whip out my new phone to try out GPS on Gogolmaps. Except the top left status bar had a nasty E symbol on it and my first ever experience on Edge was a poor one. Nurf!

right. can you still buy a 3G iPhone from the Carphone Warehouse without having to take out the £30 a month contract or do you now need to take out the contract to use a new one?

Still cant believe how people cant grasp the concept of its a normal phone contract and that they're shocked when they find it out how bad it is that apple have done it and not allowing to people just walk off without signing a contract after the mistake of v1

Why is it daft? It's no different to any other phone with a contract now.

simply because Apple (the rats!) never told anyone about how they would suddenly stop selling the iPhone and bring out the new one.

Me and my boss got one in the same month. He got the 8gb i got the 16gb.

His price dropped a day after he bought it and because he got it through 02 he wasnt entitled to a rebate :(

I got the 16gb model for £329 and 2 days after i bought it they stopped selling them

Now there £150 and you cant buy one direct... Its not really a phone either, its more a PDA/smartphone and i dont see why you cant just buy one.

Pretty angry @ apple the way they have done this...

Of course they never told anyone, otherwise how would they get rid of their old stock?

To be honest though, pretty much everyone with a cursory interest in this has known since christmas that they were likely to release a new version in the summer.

Apple & O2 got stung (i.e. didn't make as much money as they should have) last time because so many people bought them without contracts. They weren't going to let that happen again.

Help please!

I've decided i can't wait anymore, and as it's my day off tommorrow im going to go to the Regent Street Apple store to get a 16GB iPhone as i know they'll have stock.

Problem is, i don't know London much at all. I was going to go to Ikea in Croydon but assume i cant just drive in what with the congestion charging etc, so what do i do? Can i get a train from Croydon to Regent Street etc?

Need help, pretty please! :)

My GPS has stopped working. :(

Maps just sits there with the little blue circle going round and around but does nothing. Apparently it's a known issue and the only fix is to do a restore. :(

Alright, I'm really considering getting an iPhone now - it's just so swish!

I'm on Orange PAYG at the moment. How long would it take to get my PAC code? Can they give it to me over the phone?

Forget Ikea, look's like a straight day trip to London headed for Regent Street.

I'll phone ahead to make sure but from what people have said they never run out of stock...

Fingers crossed i guess, it's a two hour train journey.
