Jobless to work 'clearing litter' !!!

The real problem for social housing was the right to buy, which meant it was not cost effective to build or keep social housing. Without that problem, the let to dole claimers would have been well left out of the loop.

Without the right to buy social housing would be the only option, the right to buy set of the housing market.

Meh, I am getting tired of people whining about benefits and deciding to point their fingers at, and look down at, the people on them instead of the government who set the system up. it's just judgemental and arrogant.

If you really care or are offended that much then do something about it. Write to your MP en masse.

Or take up arms and overthrow the goverment, you can then inforce your own policies. Just went to the JC again, out of 80 jobs, 2 or 3 are suitable. No point going for welder, fabrictor, elecrician carpenter jobs. Just be wasting there time, and also mine.

I don't have to give my personal reasons as that's none of your business.
Barman and call centre require previous experience.

previous experience to be a barman?????

omg ive heard it all

do you know what goes in a vodka coke??

let me give you a hint ^^^^^^^^^

to be honest i think you should be forced to pick up litter

My experiences exactly. But I have GCSE's, and various certifications. At least tried to get on the ladder but didn't. So why should I accept toilet cleaner.

I'd rather be unemployed than go back to the supermarket, it was that miserable. Every now and then a supervisor or manager made your life there living hell. Also it's hardly a career, it's not what I wanted to do. Perhaps maybe if I have no skills, qualifications and a bit thick. If you're a full timer you are unable to plan interviews.

When I do look for jobs that are suitable, they're either miles away, require transport, or require someone with vast amounts of experience. No trainees or anything.

And when I do a wide search from various jobs- retail, warehouse, labour, it found 3 jobs. 3. And one was too far.

so basically you find hard work boring and would rather claim money from the government

you also dont get replies from interviews as posted before

have you ever wondered why you dont?

why not work in a nightclub? - it isnt a boring job - there is a thing called public transport

you think hard work is beneath you but claiming money for nothing isnt

Usually yes you do.

Err where did I say "hard work is boring"? :-/

when you said you hated working in a supermarket

as for needing experience thats bull - I used to run my family's restaurant i now have my own job with a multinational company through my uni degree

throughtout the time i ran the restaurant over 4 years mostly everyone i employed had no previous experience

all of my staff learnt how to clean the pipes etc

pour drinks within a day or two and they now run the place for me

You really have a chip on your shoulder over this... I don't think we can guarun
I was wondering whether people who'd work a crap job for however long would be equally as likely (or marginally more likely) as getting a job they liked - dolies and shelf-stackers have a lot in common, which is demonstrated by how much rivalry there is between them in this thread.

Of course they will, they show willing to work, gain experience and have the attitude to actually go find the jobs. Unlike many dole scroungers. Yes there are some people who generally need the help and that's what it is there for. But I bet it's a very low percentage.

Stupid idea.

Why would anyone employ people to do these jobs for minimum wage when they can get dole claimants to do it on the cheap? unless we are desperate for people in these sectors (which I doubt) it's just going to create more unemployed.

It's the same with retail at the moment they no longer bother employing most of the staff themselves because they can just get a constant cycle of people off the dole to do the jobs for them at the government and tax payers expense, it's cheap labour and the only ones really benefitting from it are the businesses.

It's all just a case of whatever makes the unemployment figures look better...

This is kind of how I see work for temp job agencies.

They seem to have quite a high turnover in factories and the like; they tell the agencies not to send people back for arbitrary reasons and the employee has no way to dispute this. This allows a culture of fear of losing out on work and enables them to work people harder than they should, for less pay, and give them less or no job benefits.

Also, I've heard of legislation that will force employers to pay temps the same as full time workers after 3 months. This seems like it will only exasperate the situation and parallels the idea that it is easier to use the employment system to get cheap(er) labour than to pay people a wage they can live on and have some job security.

If there are litter picking and cleaning jobs for people to do while getting benefits, why not employ them at the minimum wage. Then again, that wouldn't stop the current cleaners and litter pickers losing their jobs in favour of the cheap labour though:rolleyes:

Also wonder what's the required hours? For £60 JSA as a example, with NMW 10 hours. But I bet expected to do 38 hours for that £60 :-/
