My fabulous ship
hi guys - friend of mine wants me to spec them a isp, can you give me a list pls? Im about to look at tiscali, bt, virgin etc etc - just commercial general purpose pls :)

As hyper_piper45 said. Also consider Sky LLU as it's not too bad and if you can't get LLU, go for an Entanet reseller or Zen.

Absolutely avoid all the ISPs you mentioned in your original OP though.

I'm slightly biased but I'd say go with O2, as even if you can't get LLU in your area now they'll upgrade you to it when you can.

Also if you do go with O2 drop me a mail (see trust) as I can get you a discount.

if you can get LLU o2 seems to be getting good reviews.
if not get Zen, who i was with before llu was enabled at my exchange. They are a joy to be with, consistent speeds and the BEST customer service iv experienced from any company.
expensive, but worth it if you cant get llu.

Surely either people could read previous threads before posting or this could go in a sticky. The number of networks threads which have exactly the same answer...

be*/o2 is best if it's available

enta reseller or zen if not...

How do Be and Sky compare? I'm moving to a new flat this weekend and it looks like I'm in a good spot in terms of broadband (1.45km from the exchange which has most of the LLU providers etc) I can get both Be and Sky. Be does look very good, but I could get a sky combo package and get Sky TV (Most of the channels id want), Phone and Broadband for £28 per month which is also very tempting. Anyone able to give a comparison?

If you can get Be* then you can get O2. You should really go with O2 as it's the same service plus if I refer you then you can get the top LLU package for £7.50

No no no, best bet is to go with O2 Access as when his exchange eventually goes LLU they'll just switch him over to it.

Only reason I'd say not to is if his exchange was never going to get LLU.

Is that the 20meg Ultimate for £7.50 then? How come Be* does a '24mb' service whereas O2 only do a 20mb service? (I realise that I'm not likely to get anything like those speeds) Does that also tie you in to a 12month contract? Am I right in believing your not tied in to a contract with Be*? :)

easily virgin so long as you can get cable, i wouldnt even bother with any adsl providers unless you have to.

Been with sky for 3 months now and I cant fault them.

Top speeds, more than reasonable FUP 350gb i think it is.

No downtime and Only £10 a month for 16mb line if you are a sky customer.

You dont get any webspace or Newsgroups access tho.

I left virgin bcz they intoduced Phorm, application throttling, anti piracy measures not that i donwload anything, and stm is getting worse.

Ugh - bad advice.

not really its quite simply virgin are the best for a very fast stable connection(so long as your using their cable service), you can't get that from any adsl company. the only thing that other company's might beat virgin on is customer service but they have always been good to me.
