The Leadtek 280 Extreme

What ARE you talking about?

You're a strange one, helmutcheese... Take a simple definition of stability, and turn it into a wide ranging rant about "obsession with OC'ing", "patches to screw up a game" and "noobs slagging you off"?

I suggest we return to topic at hand, yes? This seems to be the very definition of thread derailment.

You need to learn to read then and was not talking solely about this thread.

And you obv ain't messed with GRID from launch (inc with 2 patches) or read 99% of posts on the CM forum.

If you like buggy games as you seem to you can play GRID. ;)

Why do you not simply game instead of posting multiple threads about your GTX280 ?.

Your posts are never simple, and I don't see what's so hard to grasp about me using Orthos to test CPU and ATI Tool to test GPU.

Would I be better using GIRD unpatched to test my GPU ?. :p

Yes topic is the Leadtek card and I have already stated if I preordered it at them clocks and it ended up less I be unhappy.

Another rant? Yipee! :p

I have a feeling you're just trolling me, but whatever. To answer some of your 'questions'...

I have made only two threads. One about triple buffering (which was a guide I wrote), and one about microstuttering (in which I provided a utility I wrote to settle the discussion people were having about the topic). What exactly have you provided for the forum recently? I'm not sure where you get the impression I've created "endless threads" about my card

My posts are never simple because life is not simple, and neither are computers. You can boil things down to simple black and white concepts if you wish, but know that you are only scratching the surface of a vast and rich subject.

What is all this stuff about liking buggy games? Or about GRID? I've never even played GRID... But to answer the one genuine question that I think you're getting at: Stability is a completely separate issue from game bugs. Instability arises when a hardware is given an instruction, and executes that instruction incorrectly. Bugs are due to providing 'poor' instructions to the hardware. It is not possible to take a stable piece of hardware to an unstable state by providing poor instructions to it.

Anyway - I say again, can you please stop with the rants and personal insults and get on with discussing the Leadtek card?

I don't see any rants or personal insults in this thread.

I made a n00b comment about a n00b in another thread who tried to slate me about super duper ATI 512MB Leet version Memory being able to run 1920's with FULL AA but he puts up screenies of 8x AA. ;)

I think you and me both know no matter what speed or type of Memory anyone uses 512MB is still a limit than can be overcame apart from by Amount.

For the 2nd time I have commented on the leadtek.

For once I think Helmut is behaving (OMG I can't believe I just typed that ;))

Let's drag this back onto topic guys. You can always create your own thread if ya wanna 'discuss' OC matters :)

Some people are saying that although it's shader clock is listed as 1666MHz, that speed is not attainable with the 27MHz crystal NVidia uses, so is that figure correct or not?

After causing rampant speculation all around the world the Leadtek extremes specs have changed to a more conservative 1404MHz shader clock, 666MHz core and mem 2214MHz.Not so much extreme more like a damp squib?

Didn't think GTX280's were capable of those clocks on air to be honest.

Edit: Then again, those Zotac AMP cards are pretty good anyway.

I sincerely hope they're giving people their money back? And that's a devilish core speed :P

Reminds me a few years back xfx had an nvidia card listed with stupidly high clock speeds, unsuprisingly i never seen it in stock even once anywhere it was advertised.

Bit of a joke really, there was me praising Leadtek with coming out with something extrodinary, a pre-overclocked card actually worth buying, and now it's been completely nerfed :/

At more than £100 extra over the standard GTX280, it's simply not worth it with the new specs.

Absolutely not but at least it might be old in some already overpriced gaming pc's :)

Glad I changed my extreme order to the zotac when I did :)

The Zotac is a fair bit faster, has 3 years more warranty and is nearly £60 cheaper
