McCanns going too far?

http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/1609_maddie.shtml
i know, i know , i know, I did a last time anyone saw maddie google search. Turns out theres a pic of the path Tanner supposedly saw a guy holding a baby, you can see by the path, it would be hard for 2 men talking to completely miss 2 people go past, tanner and the mystery possible kidnapper. Wilkins is convinced Tanner and the possible suspect weren't there at all.

This whole saga bores me because they've played on it so much within the media. All the time it's "new pictures of madeleine", bla bla bla.

I may come across as being quite cynical here, and I really do feel sorry that they've lost one of their kids, but it's old news.
I'm not interested in the wrongs or rights of Maddy going missing, but if one of my kids was taken I'd do anything I could to get them back including dealing with the media to the detriment of my own "image" even if it risked boring you.....

It's ok, I saw it before the edit as well. :p

Maybe if they had paid as much attention to the daughter, as they have to being on the news & in the papers every ****** day, then we wouldn't have to endure their pathetic story's day in day out.

They are irresponsible parents who preferred boozing to making sure their kids where safe while in a foreign country & now they want our sympathy.

Agree completely, no parent in their right mind leaves kids alone and goes off for a meal, when baysitters are so easily available.

There have been occasions when we have been on a family holiday and one of us will look after the kids while the other goes out with friends, and then the next night, or even a bit later during the same night, we swap round.

Never have we both gone out without knowing the kids are 250% safe and looked after by a responsible adult.

Very sorry for their loss, but they are entirely to blame and need to stop trying to blame anyone else, I for one would be much more sympathetic if they actually admitted they did wrong.

What comments have upset you, the ones about them being bad parents for leaving 3 children, aged 3 and under alone, unsupervised, out of sight, in a foreign country while they went out on the lash with there friends?

I am afraid to tell you but the bit that says foreign country is completely irrelevant.

Well, from what I've seen I've not seen anything say the 6.40 seeing in her room

*snip*

Not even this, from my previous post...?

This is how the group recalled the evening:

* 1730: Kate and Gerry McCann pick up their three children from afternoon tea at the Ocean Club

* 1800: Gerry begins a game of tennis with other guests

* 1840: David Payne checks on Kate and the children, at Gerry's request and sees Madeleine

Source.

That's taken from the official version of events, as agreed by all members of the party at the tapas restaurant.

Theres no leap of logic, you are very deliberately trying to misrepresent my quotes.

I haven't misrepresented you at all, and I've quoted you directly.

The way you posted makes it sound like I was claiming she was definately never there and thus proved because no one saw her trying to make my claim sound outlandish. However I never said that.

What I said that you quoted

"Everything seems to point to the fact that no one saw the kid from 6pm again, no one except the Mccanns and a possible kidnapper, how that rules the Mccanns out I don't know."

What you said in response to what I said
"If the last time she was seen alive was at 18:00 when the family was heading for their apartment (which it wasn't; she was seen safe in bed at 18:40 by a family friend), then it seems pretty daft to claim that she was never in the apartment that evening."

Sorry but all i said was the fact that no one saw her after 6pm, or maybe even 6.40 if the friend thing is accurate in seeing her at 6.40pm. If no one saw the kid from much earlier than I claimed i couldn't see how that possibly ruled the Mccanns out, and it doesn't.

You said a lot more than that. Remember this part, which I also quoted:

so there isn't the slighest lick of proof she was ever in that room that night, not the slightest.

That's what you said. It seems to me that you are suggesting she was never in the room that night. So if you doubt that she was ever in the room that night, you are left with the conclusion that she was killed before they even entered the apartment.

Hence my other comments.

You keep going on like, but you're wrong people did see her again, yes, supposedly except those people, were the Mccanns.

No, one of them was David Payne. And David Payne is most definitely not a McCann.

If the Mccanns did do it, which is certainly a possibility, they Gerry MCCANN saying she was fine at 9.05 doesn't really mean crap if he's lying. If the possibility exists that a kidnapper snuck in and took the kid away, then its also possible they snuck out with the kid came back and went to dinner.

Yes, I agree.

*snip*

Yes, people changed their stories at various points. People tend to do this when recollections of events are muddled. However, the important point is that a final version of events has been agreed.

A friend who went up to check on her kids, not the Mccanns, says she saw a guy walking off with a kid in a blanket, but she didn't think anything of it. However the guy Gerry was talking to about tennis seems to think the path between where he saw her, and didn't see the guy, was very narrow and it would have been utterly impossible for this woman to see this "suspect with a child" and he couldn't in the same path as its tiny.

Maybe she saw something; maybe she didn't. I personally believe that she didn't see anything.

Nothing adds up, at all, nothing is provable, you can't just assume the parents didn't do it, in which case you can't 100% certainly claim what they said is true or accurate.

*snip*

I don't simply assume that the parents didn't do it. Nor do I simply assume that they did. My position is that I believe there is no evidence to prove their guilt - and on that basis, I conclude they are innocent.

SO far there is one, single proven fact to start off from, everything after is hearsay and told by possible suspects.

*snip*

No. There was evidence of various forms, and verifiable facts all over the place. The DNA samples in the car were not mere "hearsay".

claiming as fact that the kid was fine at 9.05 or 9.30 is impossible.

I agree.

But i love your reasoning, clearly they couldn't have done it, it makes more sense to kill one of the smaller kids than the big one, no really thats just a sentence chock full of logic there.

That is not what I said. It is not even close to what I said. Please read what I wrote. Carefully.

And please do not misrepresent me after falsely accusing me of misrepresenting you.

Rubbish..

I'm fairly sure your sympathy is somewhere down at number 14 billion in their list of priorities.

You have to laugh at the holier than thou brigade here that have clearly never made a mistake in their lives.

If you think anything you can say or do could make a parent that had lost a child feel worse you're crazy. We all make mistakes or do stupid things, but put yourself in their position. Would you go home and be quiet letting your daughter vanish and the police quietly close the case eventually, or would you do anything in your power to keep the police, media and public looking for your daughter, no matter the personal cost.

Frankly I doubt the keyboard warriors posting here would dream of saying the stuff they've posted to the McCanns face. Internetz forumz foer the win!

To be fair did the nanny service in the hotel not cost something like 10euro's an hour and on their wages im sure they could have easily afforded it.

I honestly blame them for the "abduction" as they never should have left their kids alone, ESPECIALLY in a foriegn country. Though they are now just milking the media attention for all its worth. They aint finding her now end of.

Eh, stupid mistake leaving children in a apartment on there own  , I went away with my parents, sister and niece, not once did we even think about leaving her in the apartment even though it had great security and double locked doors and windows. We always took her out and made sure she had a sleep in the day so she was still up for around 10-11pm then we would go home and have a drink at the apartment, what they did was crazy, even though they where what ever yards away, they where not stupid they where selfish.

The police have better things to do no like serve the people of the town not some tourists who child went missing over a year ago. They have been VERY lucky to get the support and money from the public.

Looks like they shipped the kids off in the day as well, so they would rather spend less time with the children on holiday.

Any parent should know, children come before your needs every single time.

Given the chance i would love to tell the McCanns to their face exactly what i think of them as would most people if the opportunity arose.

It's this sort of hysterical, "ZOMG there's a paedophile round every corner" attitude that makes British parents the laughing stock of Europe imo. And it's exactly why we're producing a nation of over-protected, inactive, obese children who are unable to think or act for themselves.

so you would leave toddlers unattended like that if you went on holiday?

toddlers dont always sleep through the night you know...

there would be outrage if there kids would have died from an electric shock or something but because someone aparently stole one its okay?

did they not even have a cordless baby monitor with them or anything?

its not like they couldnt have afford to pay someone to just sit in there watching tv while they were out enjoying themselfs

As far as I can recall the "babysitting" service the resort used was pretty much the same as most of these holiday resorts and actually a "baby listening" service. Someone doing the rounds and listening in at doors every half hour or so. So they were probably doing more than the paid for service by actually checking in on them.

Hence why they checked on them every 30 minutes.

No there wouldn't, it would have been a tragic accident.

Who though? For all we know their reasons for not using the baby-minding service might have been quite sound e.g. not trusting the baby minders who could have been chavvy British teenagers.

No there wouldn't, it would have been a tragic accident.
no it would have been neglect...

what age is a child allowed to be left alone in a house?

im sure if it was some chav family who nipped next door to the pub and checked on there child every 30minutes no one would be defending them but because its 2 people with well paid jobs its a different story

We always took her out and made sure she had a sleep in the day so she was still up for around 10-11pm.
Taking a small child out and keeping them up till 11pm, OK, if that's what you decide to do so you can enjoy your holiday I guess.

Any parent should know, children come before your needs every single time.
Perhaps reading your own comment above then before you stampede up to the moral high ground?

No one is disputing what happened was a tragic mistake any way you look at it. It's just the people whining because they think the McCanns are doing something wrong by trying to keep as many people looking for their daughter that need to think about what they are actually saying.

If you were a parent with a missing child would you go for a year and the decide, "oh well, I might be boring some kids on internet forums, lets write our child off as gone and keep just keep quiet"? or would you do anything you could to keep visibility as high as possible in the hope someone would spot her or at the very least you'd find out what happened?

People say some really stupid things on here sometimes.
