Edit: Killed every single person in Europe, Russia, Australia, America, China, North Africa, but then got wiped out. Time to try again! Got a much better strategy now I know whats going on.

i played the first one, the key was to up its infectiousness to max and minimise the lethality (cant think of the words) then when every country had some infected up the lethality to max

A disease with literally no symptoms which is airbourne, waterborne, carried by insects, carried by rodents, immune to cold, heat and moisture and drug resistant causes the goverments all to close their borders and declare martial law before a single person can be infected, leaving 3 or 4 countries completely screwed but all the rest with 0 infected. How are you meant to notice an extremely contagious disease with no symptoms before a single person in your country gets infected ._.
