Heatsink thermal paste

Just got my boxed version of the intel E8400 the manual mentions nothing about the paste yet the motherboard manual does. Did intel forget to include the paste ?

Your E8400 comes with thermal paste pre-applied.

Does it? I thought the chip would already be attached to the cooler but it isn't. The back of the chip is silver and is shiny and clean. Cannot see any form of paste

If yours is a boxed version(retail) the pre-applied paste should be on the heatsink.

I would still use AS5, generally cool down the CPU an extra few degrees, worth the couple of quid imo

MX-2 is better than arctic silver, if you're going to bother you may as well use MX-2.

That said, if you want better temps you may as well buy a new cooler.

The stuff on it is fine
