1 car, for life (Another izoneiz thread)

911 GT3 RS

We have no kids and will have no kids, and I can use my Helicopter for transporting friends so might as well have a car that will go like stink, last FOR EVER and still look the latest version in 40 years time :D

One of them oldish Mercs that they use as Taxis on the Canary Islands. Anything that can do 3,000,000km in that heat and salty sea air must be worth a chance of still being alive when im gone.

E90 M5, again
Mainly because of practicality, reliability, tunability and comort.

I wouldn't buy another if I wasn't keeping it for life.

Actually, sod it, bugatti veyron, kids can walk :P

535d Saloon, or if i'm feeling mad a 550i!, in silver...with those clear colourless crystal rear clusters :D. Havent seen the need for an touring in my upbringing and doubt I will. (Thats not discounting 4x4s outside of this situation :D )

Aston Martin DB9.

Nice looking, 4 seats, nice performance, reasonable fuel economy, civilised, practical, comfortable.

Student

Can afford to run that can you? Could you even afford the first years service? :P People putting Ferarris/Porsches aren't reading the OP requirements for suggesting a car!

Not at the moment, but bare in mind I wouldn't have to drive it every day, but would be able to afford to run it every day at some point or other.

If I have to keep it for life I'm hardly going to get a 1.0l 20 year old Polo am I :p

Fuel not being an issue, I would have said the RS6, but fuel is an issue, so instead I went for something a bit more economical, but that gains a lot from being mechanically simple, and bolted together rather like a mechano set

really comfortable over long distances though eh?

I would go for either a 3 series touring variant or something like an X5 / RR Sport - justification? space, reasonable performance, comfort.

haha yeah but DB9 isnt even viable if you earn 40k a year once you factor in costs of living. Let alone have a family!

When you die you may be driving round a 40 year old rusty moon mileage Aston...

Whats this fairy tale model of M5 you talk about?

I would prefer the e60 myself ;)

From the way I read the first post, I don't have to buy the car itself? Running costs are entirely dependant on way of life but yes, I understand servicing etc would't be cheap :)

Surely that's the same for any car?
