I'd probably have a Monaro/VXR8. Big enough to fit kids in the back, decent boot, well equipped, comfortable, fairly straightforward servicing... and a V8![]()
Aston Martin DB9.
Nice looking, 4 seats, nice performance, reasonable fuel economy, civilised, practical, comfortable.
Occupation:
Student
Can afford to run that can you? Could you even afford the first years service?![]()
Fuel not being an issue, I would have said the RS6, but fuel is an issue, so instead I went for something a bit more economical, but that gains a lot from being mechanically simple, and bolted together rather like a mechano set
Not at the moment, but bare in mind I wouldn't have to drive it every day, but would be able to afford to run it every day at some point or other.
If I have to keep it for life I'm hardly going to get a 1.0l 20 year old Polo am I![]()

Aston Martin DB9.
...reasonable fuel economy...
E90 M5, again
Mainly because of practicality, reliability, tunability and comort.
I wouldn't buy another if I wasn't keeping it for life.
Actually, sod it, bugatti veyron, kids can walk![]()
Sounds like quite a safe bet.
From the way I read the first post, I don't have to buy the car itself? Running costs are entirely dependant on way of life but yes, I understand servicing etc would't be cheaphaha yeah but DB9 isnt even viable if you earn 40k a year once you factor in costs of living. Let alone have a family!
When you die you may be driving round a 40 year old rusty moon mileage Aston...
Safe isn't quite the word I'd use for a stonking great, powersliding Aussie monster![]()
