If a gearbox were to....die/explode/cease to function?

What's up with that? It's just damn unlucky. Sorry to hear mate. :/

How and where was it taken from? Did they steal your car cover too?!

Thread has failed to deliver :(

sorry to hear your car got nicked, that's a bit ****. how much damage did they do?

If you binned it, we can understand why you kept it off the forums but being stolen...no. ;)

Remember the Astra thread? Yes I lied in that, and some people still feel the need to mention it to this day. Even after admitting countless times that I lied.

I wreckon you binned it :p

Prime example of why I haven't posted.

I bought...

New bonnett
wings
front bumper
backing bar for said bumper
gearbox
driveshaft
rads
drivers side engine mount
shock absorbers (both sides)
y shaped mounting bracket for passenger side front wheel
headlights

and the front chassis rails were bent down.

SO yeah...not too much damage...:(

What a surprise....

"i'm not telling i'm not telling i'm not telling i'm not telling i'm not telling i'm not telling i'm not telling i'm not telling"
"OK....FINE!!"

i was getting txt messages and msn messages. posting on here saves so much hassle, but also causes it tbh :p

Unlucky, insurance?

So how much did all the parts cost then? Did u pay for them out of your own pocket? Sound like they'd cost an absolute fortune!

No, they would have written it off without a doubt.

Does not compute(!)

You paid £x for insurance to protect you in case something happens. Something happens, then you don't claim on the insurance?

I understand sometimes it can work out cheaper that way by the time you pay for excess and loss of NCB; but that list looks like it will cost at least a grand? Unless you got a series of good deals? :p

£650 for parts, £400 in labour - The body panels need colour blending (they are all trophy blue but naturally slightly different shades) so the car looks like friggin patch work :( painting will probs be about £300 with my guy?

My excess is only £250 on my insurance, I just knew if I would have gone through they insurance it would have been a write off, and I really wanted to keep the car.

And it hasn't cost me a penny btw.

I shoudn't worry about the paint. Being a Rover, it'd have come out of the factory with crap paintwork anyway....

/runs

:p

Just run over the bugger with a cutting compound, see what happens. Not going to make it worse.

So what exactly is wrong with the gearbox?

At a rough guess, it might have taken quite a knock given that the car lost a halfshaft in its adventure at the hands of a thief. (beaten)

It'll probably be okay if you don't drive a like a ****, Jake. Is it making much noise?
