So, I've just had a bit of a strange conversation with my housemate. He's 22, just graduated with a masters in Chemistry and has no booked himself an appointment at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth for a consultation on a possible kidney donation.
It's took me a bit by surprise. Apparently it's something he's wanted to do for a while and is happy giving a kidney to a complete stranger. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against donating a kidney but I feel it's a big decision not to be taken lightly. He seems so content about it like it's giving blood or something.
If it was a loved one, I wouldn't bat and eyelid, I'd be on the operating table in a moment, but I'm not sure if I would be so willing for a complete stranger.
So any thoughts? Would you do this? http://www.uktransplant.org.uk/ukt/...ng_kidney_donation/living_kidney_donation.jsp
