So a brief demo is up on LIVE, but more importantly we have a release on the 15/08 and a patch available from the get-go - so who else is pre-ordering this then?

Ive skipped all next-gen versions, none of them have taken off as they should have, so im hopeful on this one for a decent game of football and realistic franchise simulations.

Anyone else getting this, maybe get a few people together for some online games?
 
I too will be getting it, although I am probably the worst madden player in the world! Hope they enhance the superstar mode from last year, was great fun.
 
I'll get this, love that hitstick. My favorite part of the game is taking players legs out with the hit stick :D

Should definitely get some ocuk games going!
 
I got the PS3 version last year and it was absolutely terrible.

Crap sound, crap graphics & crap gameplay.

Sold it after a week.:(

Yeah, definately a bad port but most EA games were bad when the PS3 launched compared to the 360. Hopefully it won't be the case with the 09 versions.

I've always like the series but that PS3 version was the worst I've played out of all of them.
 
Do you guys enjoy American Football in any way?

I would be interested in trying this but I find all the options for plays very confusing, I also find that I don't really get to do much. So much seems to be done for me and when something exciting happens it is all over too quickly.

Don't enjoy it, don't understand it in the slightest. Even so, I've liked quite a few american football games over the years (despite not having any real understanding of what I'm actually doing :o). Something about the sport seems to translate very well to videogames when done properly. I've not had any of the next gen Maddens but going by the demo, 09 is something I will consider.

I watch the Superbowl but that's about it.

I can understand the plays in the game but couldn't tell you what play they are going to use when watching it on TV.

In Madden playing offence is great but when you're on defence it's much harder as you have to try and pre-empt what your opponent is going to do. When you get it right though it's a great feeling especially in two player games.
 
worst case - you can use 'madden' play calls - this picks an appropriate offense/defense setup for you, then you can run a play and see how it works

on defense i find it easier to pick 1 position and use that on each play, offense you get the QB on passing (then receiver as you catch) then you control the running back for rushing

there are more complicated controls that allow you to control blockers as you run etc, but as long as you get the basics then you can enjoy a good game

outside of NHL 09 this is my most anticipated game
